Cairo

Cairo is known around the world as a destination of extreme historical importance and features some of the most well-known landmarks on the globe. What most people don’t associate with this extremely modern city is the fact that it is one of the largest urban areas on the planet, complete with a wide array of dining and shopping options as well as some of the finest Cairo accommodation options.

Of course most visitors will come to this famous city for access to the pyramids, including the awe-inspiring Great Pyramids of Giza, which are just on the outskirts of the city as is the Great Sphinx contained inside the Khafre’s Valley Temple, which is believed to be the largest stone sculpture ever created by man. There are numerous hotels in Cairo that offer easy access to these locations including the Four Seasons and the Cairo Marriot.

There is an abundance of shopping to be done in the city, and visitors should be certain to visit the Khan el-Khalili souk bazaar, which has remained largely the same since the 14th century. The Camel Market is also a great visit but very few tourists actually make a purchase here. A wide array of fully air conditioned shopping malls are scattered throughout this majestic city featuring the latest in fashion and jewelry from around the world.

There is no shortage of nightlife in this famous city and for those who are interested the party can continue long into the night at various venues including the popular Casanova and Sinbad Discothèque. Furthermore, regardless of one’s particular taste, visitors can rest assured that whatever sort of meal they desire can easily be found.

For the perfect mix of ancient history and modernity, it is easy to understand why this remains one of the most popular global destinations for leisure travel.
