Close to airport, free airport shuttle, beautiful pool and facilities
Nothing going on in the neighborhood surrounding the hotel.
The Meridien Heliopolis is an excellent option if you need to be the near airport. It is modern, clean, has all amenities, and a helpful staff. There's a free shuttle to the airport on the hour. It is in a residential neighborhood, though, so there's nothing to do outside of the hotel.

Food taste is below average.
Poor & slow service on pool side restaurant
The receptionist are good and quick to check and allot the room without hiccups. I got a clean room, clean toilet and good bed. The room service on order was good and in time.
The restaurant on ground floor was average, could be better particularly for the taste of food. The pool side restaurant was managed with less staff, slow to respond and below average quality of food. Billing was fast. I have no problem to go back to this hotel but would like to avoid dining on pool side restaurant.

Very poor English skills of all staff.
The free shuttle bus back to the airport during business hrs is excellent, but difficult the other way. Taxi hire: do not use the hotel's, but simply walk out to the road and hail one. Close to airport. Had a refurbished room excellent, but staff and guests seem to smoke everywhere without worrying about the nonsmokers. The restaurant is open for breakfast until 10.30am - I arrived at 10am and was told it was closing already - the staff do not care! The staff are extremely keen to get tips off you for even the smallest inconvenience. Hotel far from metro and city - airport usage recommended only
Travel tip : Walk outside to hail a taxi off the street - much cheaper!

Hotel is in a good location on one of the main streets of Heliopolis. If you want to walk after a day's work it is possible as the sidewalks are decent along the street. Hotel breakfast is rich in choice and makes for a good start to the day. Night service is nice as they supply you with a bottle of water which always comes in handy.
Shopping Tip : Hotel is not far from some of the fancy shopping malls in Cairo. Not many bargains but worth browsing around.

Good food served in room.
Close to airport.
Not good room cleanliness.
Room may be noisy due to the road to airport.
Tips needed for everything and anything,
(Unreliable) Internet access at 10 euros/hour!
This is a nice hotel except that it does not seem to deserve five stars. Being there for a business trip I had meetings in the nearby hotel which seem far better but only rated 4 stars. At Le Meridien staff is begging for tips at all times, even when it should be included already in the bill (like for in-room service, as written on their own documentation). Staff English is sometimes hard to understand. Paper documentation does not agree with staff directions like for in room safes. My room had a rusty and old bathtub, and the cleanliness was good but not excellent as expected from a five stars hotel. No one there, including at check-out, seemed interested to know if everything was ok, just asking why I did not use the mini bar (whose prices are without limits, where content is poor, and not corresponding to the list). So in short you can have a good stay but do not expect services up to par with an international 5 stars hotel.
