Roof top restaurant, pool and garden area were OK
general staff attitude, the carpet throughout the hotel was filthy, no drinking water in the room???
Not sure what we were expecting…(Sofitel, can’t be too bad???) We booked very last minute and having not been to Cairo before had no idea about anything so perhaps rushed into a dodgy deal, the pics on the website looked ok, the location looked ok, the price seemed reasonable…so we locked in and paid for 4 nights non- refundable.
The location is sus (not exactly at the foot of the pyramids as described in the hotel blurb), and I would suggest those hotel pics are quite old. The staff attitude ranged from arrogant to apathetic, so the service was poor (to non-existent) , the carpet throughout the hotel needs replacing (we wore socks in our room because the carpet was sticky and dirty), there was a note in our room advising that the tap water was not suitable for drinking...yet no bottled water was provided (normally you would get at least one initial complimentary bottle ??)...but the room was quiet and the bed was comfortable so we did sleep well… the one night we stayed. And we could see the tip of the big pyramid from our patio area....(which I guess constitutes a 'pyramid view room'). Not sure what made us leave early....the sticky carpet for sure (and after a couple of hours around the pool that first day, we went back to our room, looked at each other and decided to check out and find another place to stay.) There were lots of people staying at this hotel so perhaps we are the odd ones out, but we were really disappointed with this hotel.

Poorly air-conditioned rooms.
TV set was outdated.
Bed was not comfortable.
I have not enjoyed my stay at the hotel as it lacked a lot of facilities and basics of comfort.
