the reception area and bar staff.
The childrens swimming pool is a disgrace i had to complain to the manager as there were insects swimming in it and it was dirty. we were not able to change any money at the hotel as a copier was not working, thankfully they had a cash mashine we could use.
on our arrival we booked a trip to the pyrimids sound and light. the reception guy must not have loged it as we were waiting in the reception area for 45mins when we asked when our taxi would come no one knew about it. when at last they did sort it out we missed the first 10 mins or so and nearly got killed trying to get there! my mother in law had a problem with tring to get her laundry back when we had to check out however after complaining to the manager about this joke of a high quality hotel she let us have a room til things got sorted. Some of the staff seem to look down at you because it is a five star, when they actually need to look at what a three star is like and only then they might realise that they do not deserve to be a five star hotel, nowhere near.
Travel tip : the hotel is right out side the airport, try and sort the shuttle bus or get the hotel phone number to call them to pick you up. the taxis will rip you off it is practically on the airport grounds, but we were not disturbed by the noise and i am a light sleeper.

not clean, rooms outdated, staff not friendly or helpful
This hotel should not be categorized as a 3 star. As a hotelier, I had a bad experience within each aspect of my stay. Arrival was not smooth, rather unstable and unorganized. The location of the room as only accessible by stairs which forced me to leave my bags with the bellperson. Upon arriving in the room, I found hairs in the tub, bathroom floor, toilet and sink. The bed linen appeared as though is had a film of dust over it. The overall smell of the room as sickening. None of the lights worked upon entering the room and about an hour later an engineer was able to fix the problem. I left the hotel on the first night (without staying over) and forfeited the money I had already paid to stay in a hotel that was at least clean. I would never go back to this hotel nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Sent to first room, it was dirty, sent to second room, someone already in there, back to first room and had to wait till it was cleaned. Not enough towels. Stunk of smoke. No wake up call came to us even though I ordered it. Pool was wonderful. The pool guy let us have a quick swim even though it was after swim time. The fact the hotel is so close to the airport is a big bonus.

Proximity to the Airport, and excellent facilities.
My husband & I stayed at Le Passage in mid June. We had read mixed opinions on this hotel, so we were a little unsure what to expect. We needn't have been as our brief stay (checked in at noon & out the following morning at 02:00) turned out to be a very pleasant experience. Check-in was swift, especially given the strict security procedures (reassuring rather than intimidating) when entering this hotel. We were allocated a room on the lower ground floor, opposite the childrens play area. The room was clean, with private safe (locked & opened by using your own credit card - we used our frequent flyer cards), TV with a very large choice of TV channels in many languages & it was certainly well soundproofed - we didn't experience any noise whatsoever.
The swimming pool was quiet and clean, with plenty of sunbeds, a pleasant bar area (the draught beer and freshly squeezed juices went down well in the hot Egyptian sun). The lobby bar was nice, with good service - given the number of people coming and going, it makes an excellent place to people watch. We ate at the Egyptian restaurant - excellent food - they've got their own clay oven where you can watch them making traditional flat breads.
Ckeck-out was smooth & efficient. The free hotel shuttle was outside within minutes of the cashier calling it. We both left wishing we'd had more time at Le Passage & will certainly return, the next time we are in Cairo. Yet again, another pleasant booking experience with Agoda.
Travel tip : When you arrive at Cairo airport - call the hotel yourself and ask for the shuttle bus. There are numerous officials hanging round who'll do this for you, but, a large tip is expected in return.
