Hospitality, hospitality, hospitality!
Good food & drinks at reasonable prices.
Breakfast buffet was very good.
Nice indoor courtyard area (smoking allowed there).
Nice pool area.
Guards on every floor.
Tried, but really couldn't think of any.
We stayed at the Sarova Stanley for three nights (May 2 - 4, 2009), arriving after 34 hours of travel. It was wonderful to be greeted by Jacqueline at the registration desk, whose friendly smile and charm made us feel instantly welcome. We ventured to the open-air Maasai Market on Sunday, and asked Steve at the concierge desk for more info. As gracious as Jacqueline, he gave us directions and warnings about removing all external jewelry to minimize the threat of being mugged, and warned against being pick-pocketed. This was a big help in keeping our guard up, and much appreciated. Everyone we dealt with had the same friendly and accomodating attitude, so much so we went out of our way to thank the general manager before checking out for our safari tour.
Had a very enjoyable (and reasonably priced) meal at the Thai Chi restaurant, as well as breakfasts in the main dining room.
We also found several very reasonably priced souveneirs at the hotel gift shops.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : As warned by concierge Steve, be very careful when venturing outside. We never felt threatened for personal safety, just had to always be on guard to prevent theft / mugging (like having jewelry snatched from arms, neck, ears, etc.). Fortunately it paid off for us.

Everything was welcoming and comfortable, lots of open places to sit and relax. Restaraunts were good. Free wireless internet. Really friendly staff. Historic charm.
Could be loud due to being downtown, internet servers have issues, so internet isn't 100% reliable (but still pretty good).
This historic hotel was a real pleasure to have stayed at. Kenyans are famous for being friendly and The Stanley epitomized that trait. Multiple restaraunts to choose from--all good. The public sitting areas--the exchange bar, the pool deck, etc--were great places to enjoy down time or check internet while enjoying a Guinness or Tusker. The biggest down side for me was the extremely loud disco on Saturday night that kept me from sleeping. I don't think it was in the same building as the hotel, but it may as well have been. If possible, choose a floor higher than the second.
Shopping Tip : Very close to a saturday market where it is possible to purchsse a wide assortment of souvenirs. The market is near the judiciary building, about a 5 to 10 minute walk. Ask the concierge.

Its smack in the middle of town and the rooms are lovely the pool is gorgeous and the food portions are very good value for money. Enjoyed the gym as well as the health club which is very well equipped. The staff are lovely and welcoming!!!
Room service! They could do with fixing the rooms when the guests leave and on time!
One of of the oldest and most chic hotels in Nairobi. Love the food, Tusker(local beer) and oh yes its good value for money can't wait to go back. Love the Thorn Tree Cafe (place where people from all over the world leave messages for fellow travelers). Ace!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The Nairobi National park just 30 minutes drive, great to see lions and girrafes in the wild half an hour from the city center!
