A good hotel with an interesting history
Thai restaurant, swimming pool, the room
7.3
It was reasonably enjoyable. Everything was well organised and quite efficient. The staff could be trained a little better. For instance, this was the first hotel I have been where they took my saucer while I was drinking my coffee. But the only real problem is location. If you have to stay in the centre of the city it is fine, otherwise be prepared for major traffic problems

Good location very central for meetings

Good hotel for the executive business traveller. Excellent for entertaining the people I was visiting with in Nairobi. Provided a car transfer from the Nairobi airport and all of the staff were continually very helpful and most pleasant. Food was very good standard throughout the day. Room service and breakfast very good. The hotel played a key role in ensuring I had a very pleasant stay in Nairobi and Kenya.

Nice place but I'll not be returning
6.3
It's a real shame as this is the second time I've used the hotel, but I'll not be returning, as it seems to be their policy to rip you off in every way possible. I also wanted to check out a little late (2pm) and was told that this would mean a 75% charge. I objected and was offered - after a rather bizarre conversation with the reservations manager in which she insisted I promise to return - a $50 charge as a goodwill gesture.
When I went to check out I saw that I had further been charged an extra day for early arrival. I arrived early for my stay (at 8.30 am) and needed to get into my room to rest after an overnight flight before going on to my meetings. I don't mind paying an early arrival charge, but I do resent being made to pay a full day for 3 hours' use of the room.
This is not, apparently, a management that understands that a little flexibility on charging rules (that are, from the outset unreasonable and unlike any I have seen anywhere in the world) can create goodwill.
This is a real shame, because the hotel is quite nice, and many of the staff are pleasant and hard working.
