Luxurious hotel, great location and beach
Great sunset view (east-facing), great facilities and hotel very well maintained
9.3
Part of my honeymoon, stayed here for 5 nights after a week of Safari in South Africa to relax and unwind. Plenty of activities for health and relaxation and all the activities available that you would expect from a luxury resort set on a beach. Breakfast is excellent, very fresh food. Guests are primarily from France and other parts of western Europe. Rooms are to a high standard and kept very clean.

The best beach, regular rooms and terrible meal
Long beach with white sand, clear sea and soft green grass on the way to rooms, perfect view on Morne Rock
6.7
first of all we have got deluxe prestige room in place of honeymoon suite, but frankly this room was even better than honeymoon one. however, it's little bit strange...isn't it?
the hotel has definitely the best beach in mauritius: long (700-800 m), clear white sand and entrance to sea, no corals inside water. there is the constant flow in water but it isn't dangerous as in some other places of island. sometimes we had very strong wind, and a lot of all kind surfers appeared immediately.
very nice view on morne rock.
the rooms aren't big and new, but are more or less ok and comply with the price.
spa-center is very expensive and poor in terms of a number of procedures. we don't recommend to use.
the meal in the main restaurant is completely terrible and unacceptable in terms of price/quality reasons. we ready to pay us$ 100- for a dinner/lunch but it's stupid to pay for not tasty, cold and sometimes gamy meal. e.g. we haven't managed fresh young coconut during all our 10-day stay. service is also bad, and you can't imagine how many flies... the only good thing is fine house wine from south africa.
thus we don't recommend you to buy all inclusive plan as staff try to sell you...
the room service isn't solution. they may bring you not the same dish that you ordered, they may change ingredients, they may forgot something at all...
the good thing is that you may book two other restaurants the beach and thai one. these places are very good but you need to book it immediately after arrival otherwise they may just have no available places
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
We recommend you to rent hotel VW Tuareg with the driver/guide and choose 1-2 excursions to South and North of island. But if you have no any special ideas we don't recommend you to agree to visit shops, fabrics and all this staff. In this case you have a chance to spend all your time in a number of "recommended" places, but the price of goods will be even higher than you come there alone. Also I'd say that there are no interesting goods at all in Mauritius.

Food, drink and entertainment
The Beach
The redolent smell of basil, the healthy smoothness of olive oil, the glistening perfection of eggplant and tomatoes: at Obergine, inspiration comes from the sunny climes and tempting cuisines of the Mediterranean. This simple and healthy restaurant is situated in the open-air, beachside, for the ultimate in relaxed dining at lunch or dinner
Nipa
An elegant setting, personal service and the best of Thai gourmet cuisine combine with stunning vistas over the lagoon at this simple, yet refined restaurant. Just the spot for a romantic dinner with the rich tastes of coconut milk, curries, lemongrass and the freshest of Thai ingredients
Nautile
Whether you're after a snack or a light meal showcasing the best of Mauritian cuisine, there's no better place to be than under the shade of Nautile's veranda near the beach, where a laidback ambience provides the place to enjoy informal moments over a meal. Colorful tropical fish swimming in a three-meter aquarium add to the soothing atmosphere. For those relaxing Mauritius holiday evenings, Nautile transforms into a cocktail bar where gentle background music is offered most nights
The Kitchen
At Horizon, we set out to share our creative culinary processes and artful presentations through the show kitchen, where you can watch the chefs at work. A voyage of discovery for your tastebuds too, look forward to lavish buffet breakfasts, thematic evenings complete with local entertainment and sumptuous à la carte dinners.
