Couples United Kingdom, September 07, 2012	Best Days Behind It Pool 4.7 We cannot recommend this hotel based on the basis that we visited out of season and did not find the staff, hotel or facilities to be of a five staff standard. For example: - the room did not have anything in the mini bar (even though the leaflet said we would find a "plentiful supply of food and drinks..." (or similar). - none of the restaurants appeared to be open and the Moroccan-themed one ran out of ingredients meaning that half of what was on the menu was not available (including, rather bizarrely ice cream!) - the bar did not have any change so we were forced to put charges on our room - the on-the-hour shuttle bus was around 30 minutes late (the first and only time we bothered to get it!) - the poolside cafe had no salt or pepper and the staff were very confused when we requested this - the landing outside our hotel was constantly dark as the lights were always off and we couldn't find any switches! - there is a shell of what was once, or perhaps what had planned to be, a shopping centre directly opposite the hotel which does not make for a nice view. - the staff were generally rude and not at all interested. For example when we checked out the receptionist didn't even say good bye! - Dodgy and inconsistent internet connection All in all a real disappointment. We had planned to end our holiday with 5 star luxury - having spent the first half in a 3 star riad in Medina. The riad was far better. On the plus side, the swimming pool was excellent and the hotel grounds were well kept. Unfortunately we were very limited in terms of other things to do - shops, spa etc. appeared to be constantly closed and restaurants were dead. This forced us to spend any time outside of the sun in our room, "enjoying" rather average room service. All in all a big disappointment.

Pool, gardens around pool, selection of restaurants 7 The Palm Plaza has the potential to be one of the most sought after places to stay in Marrakech if it would work on training its staff a little better. The people at the check in desk are not very efficient or enthusiastic, and the people working at the various restaurants can be arrogant and inattentive. Also, the hotel does not do a good job of describing where the different amenities are, and the staff in the fitness and spa part of the hotel are not overly friendly or helpful. I got the impression that the spa services, indoor pool, and fitness room were majorly underused mostly because guests probably didn't know about them! Overall, however, the Palm Plaza is very pleasant and destined to become a great hotel of Marrakech if it gets its staff in gear and its amenities better publicized. Nightlife Tip: Go to the famous La Mamounia hotel in Marrakech for a drink in the bar to do some interesting people watching and to see what one of the top 5 hotels in the world is like. Believe it or not, the Palm Plaza pool and grounds rival the pool area of La Mamounia. La Mamounia, however, is in a class of its own in general.
