friendly staff, basic but comfortable rooms, very convenient (walking distance) for the Waterfront

Breakfast service stops at 9am during the week...absolutely daft. And there is nowhere you can sit in the sun after 3pm....the architect of the hotel must have had a bad day when he designed it! The swimming pool isn't. It's just a large jacuzzi.

The City Lodge broadly gives you what you expect...a bit like a budget airline. It's much cheaper than many CapeTown hotels and its rooms are simple and clean but do not be expecting 24hr room service or fluffy towels! The breakfast is good(if you can there in time....the 9am shut-off is a real problem for tourists as opposed to business visitors) As mentioned above the design of the hotel is mystifying since the view from the sun terrace is unattractive and you miss almost all the afternoon sun anyway!

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : take a motorcycle sidecar ride round the Cape or up to the winelands....great fun and very different
