Food, Drink and Entertainment
Mount Nelson Hotel Cape Town - Food, Drink and Entertainment The Oasis restaurant
Voted "Best Sunday Lunch" by Cape Town travel and food critic, Brian Berkman. Overlooking the picturesque gardens and swimming pool, the Oasis restaurant offers a simple and contemporary take on ‘al fresco’ dining, with daily menus incorporating the Cape’s best local and seasonal produce in a relaxed, stylish and tranquil setting.

Afternoon tea
Afternoon tea became fashionable in the 1840s, 200 years after the first tea was brought from China. It became a British institution and a tradition which the Mount Nelson Hotel has the pleasure of continuing in the Lounge. Voted “Best Tea in the World” by Michael Winner (author and UK Sunday Times columnist), and "Best Tea" by Brian Berkman (Cape Town travel and food critic),all teas served include traditional afternoon tea favourites such as Pastrami Sandwiches, Smoked Salmon and Cucumber Sandwiches, tasty South African cheeses and biscuits, quiche and savoury pies. Not to forget the ever popular Scones and Strawberry Jam and a grand assortment of tea cakes.

Planet Champagne Bar
Voted "Best Bar" by Cape Town food critic and travel writer, Brian Berkman Planet, has become Cape Town’s new hot spot where fashionable Capetonians and international visitors gather to sip champagne and exotic cocktails. A full-service bar and cocktail menu is offered, with a wide selection of Champagnes and wines available by the glass and an assortment of delicious light meals, including caviar and oysters. Delectable desserts are served every evening from 18h00 - 23h00.

Chef’s Table
The Mount Nelson’s Chef’s Table gives diners a tailor-made culinary encounter, where they will be enjoying out-of-the-ordinary fare whilst gaining an insight into the chef’s world, at a completely private function. Charcoal and white tiles extend from the main body of the kitchen into the alcove hosting the long 10-seater oak table. A large leather-framed mirror reflects the activities in the kitchen allowing guests a 'behind the scenes' look at the chefs at work. The host of the evening will have the opportunity to meet with the highly skilled chefs beforehand to discuss menu preferences, or alternatively may decide to give them free reign to do what they do best

What's nearby? / Directions :

Directions :
Proceed from the airport buildings onto the N2 highway, staying on the right hand side of the left lane in the direction of 'City' or 'Cape Town' (the other direction will be 'Somerset West'). Continue along the N2 highway past all the off-ramps and after you pass the Liesbeek Parkway offramp, get into the lane second from the right, following the signs to the City. You will pass under two bridges and at the third bridge the road forks with the option of an offramp to the left or a bend to the right. Follow the bend to the right and the N2 will then merge with the M3 to form five lanes of traffic - the road then forks with the two left lanes forming De Waal Drive and the two right lanes forming Eastern Boulevard. Ensure that you move into one of the two left lanes as you need to proceed along De Waal Drive. Continue along De Waal Drive which winds its way around the foot of Table Mountain. As you pass under an overhead walkway, slow down as just before the overhead road bridge you need to take the offramp left into Mill Street (if you continue under the bridge, the road becomes Roeland Street). Continue along Mill Street (which then changes its name to Orange Street), passing through two sets of traffic lights. Beforethe pedestrian traffic lights on your left-hand side you will see the landmark Prince of Wales Pillars, signifying the entrance to the Mount Nelson Hotel.
