Value-for-money accommodation in the heart of the V&A Waterfront Development, Cape Town's favorite playground. Guests of the Protea Breakwater Lodge will enjoy comfortable lodging a far cry from that enjoyed by its original guests, when the building was known as the Breakwater Prison. Built in 1854 to house the male convicts working on the breakwater in Table Bay, it remained a correctional institution until the end of the 20th century. Today, this historical building is superb choice for those wanting to stay in the heart of the city. Door towards the hallway did not close well so a bit of noice from other guests.
Internet very slow and rather expensive
Stayed for 7 nights and had a good time there. Had one of the office suites with two rooms so could close the door from the small hall too the bedroom which made the noise from the hallway quite acceptable. internet can only be bought by one hour vouchers which is a bit of annoing

Close to waterfront, nice setting, interesting for the fact that it was once a prison. superb tv channels with lcd tv.
shower not working properly, but was seen in an instance by a technician. unfortunately i was staying only for 1 nite, and the shower needs a lot of mending (needs to be done during daytime). maybe continuous checking by staffs would be appropriate.
