Funky hotel in great location.

We recently stayed at The Grand Daddy Hotel for five nights and were very we chose to stay there. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were really clean and nicely decorated. They had all the necessary facilities and our bedroom and bathroom were spacious.The breakfast buffet was yummy with quite a varied choice from cooked breakfast to continental. Other meals taken within the hotel were also very good. Our room was one floor below the quirky trailer park and bar on the roof but we were not disturbed by sound. A nice touch was the jubes left on our pillows in the evenings. The hotel is centrally located so a short walk to many of the museums etc in the city centre.
Restaurant Tip:
Roberto's Portuguese restaurant with very friendly staff is a few doors down the street in case you wish to try somewhere else to eat (for variety not that we were unhappy with the meals in the hotel).

Quirky but well-positioned hotel

as mentioned, there are many positive aspects to this hotel: location, service, decor. their wifi policy is a bit strange: one must get vouchers from reception that quickly expire and must constantly be replaced. also, the bathrooms could use one or two more fittings: e.g., if i am to hang up my towel if i want to reuse it, there has to be somewhere to hang it.

Average hotel with great location

Our room was totally fine, but the best thing about the hotel is the location. You can basically walk everywhere from here! The breakfast was good, but we were a bit disappointed when they took it away really early one day.

Trendy hotel right in the center of the city bowl
location was great for food and restaurants. The airstreams on the roof where a unique and memorable room.

Hotel Feature Tip:
We spent 4 nights in the airstream on the roof. This was definitely something to remember and decently comfortable. However I would recommend to limit the days in the airstream to more like 2-3 nights at most and move inside for the rest of the time. The hotel did a great job to move the bar crowd away from the roof top after about 9 or 10 on friday night. But this is for sure not a place if you are planning to go to bed early.

Excellent hotel, great staff good restaurant
Location was great, staff really helpful , room was small but comfortable AND had a balcony, restaurant food was delish and inexpensive

The staff were really helpful, I lost my credit card and they helped me try to find it. Restaurant staff were friendly and the food was great, really inexpensive . Breakfast was lots of good choices, not vast but fresh and abundant and I liked that breakfast went to 11am.
Shopping Tip:
There are some great shops all along Long St, it has a great mix from great African goods, clothes. Make sure u walk right along to the end as there are lots of different places to check out.

terrific little gem. staff were lovely and genuine. on a funky street, with loads of options to dine nearby. book a fantastic authentic thai massage at arun thai on the opposite corner after you arrive too!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Do a peninsula tour with African eagle tours.

The Grand Daddy is a wonderful hotel that lives up to its name. It has style and pazazz. Great decor. We loved the Airstream trailers on the roof !! The bar up there was good too, a great place to relax after a busy day sightseeing. The staff were young but very efficient; very professional.Being in Long St it is in the middle of a vibrant nightlife with plenty of exotic eateries available.The hotel is within walking distance of most of the cities attractions.

Must have a drink up with the Airstream trailers on the roof.

sehr schönes hotel in übergangsphase

das hotel bietet durch seine zentrale lage einen optimalen ausgangspunkt für sightseeing und nachtleben.
die zimmer haben eine angenehme größe und sind insgesamt sauber und ordentlich. einige kleinere dinge werden ab und an durch den service vergessen, was bei einem 4 sterne hotel mitunter ein wenig ärgerlich erscheint. das kann mitunter durch den eigentümerwechsel bedingt sein.
das personal ist jedoch sehr nett und hilfsbereit und versucht sämtliche probleme schnellstens aus der welt zu schaffen. durch die zimmeranzahl und das nette personal wirkt diese hotel sehr persönlich. am wochenende finde einige veranstaltungen und partys statt, da das hotel den anspruch erhebt, sylisch und trendy zu sein. dies gelingt nicht immer, jedoch ist man auf einem guten weg.
für das frühstück sollte man trotzdem ein wenig geld mit einplanen, da das angebotene buffet nicht wirklich eine ausreichende auswahl und qualität hergibt. hier gibt es erhebliches verbesserungspotential. die küche am abend ist jedoch wirklich gut und steht optimal im preis-leistungsverhältnis.
alles in allem ein schönes hotel, welches hoffebtlich noch mehr positive veränderungen im laufe der nächsten zeit mit sich bringt. wer nicht auf anonyme hotelklötze steht und das multi-kulti-nachtleben auf der longstreet bevorzugt, der ist hier genau richtig.
