Good location, but expected more

Very good location close to nightlife and restaurants. Close to Cape quarters. I found the hotel to be overrated with not very clean furniture which is due to be replaced.

Modern hotel close to all the sight seeing and the city.
The attention to detail is lacking though. Only one pillow on the bed and the spare pillows were stained, dirty and had no pillow covers. The lifts are very slow and sometimes don't stop at the floors. Hotel parking is available free of charge which is good but no free wi-fi in the rooms.

A little in love with Cape Town, so my view may be a bit biased. I regard the city as Heaven on Earth; only to be beaten by going around the corner and visiting Camps Bay. Food, people, view of the mountain and the sea... can't ask for more from heaven, let alone a city!

The hotel building needs some minor refurbishments. Reception service was okay (not excellent). The rooms are spacious and we had good views but we had issues with the airconditioning not working - this was promptly addressed.
In this day and age most hotels have free wireless internet access but Rockwell only allows a 10MB/day limit PER room, regardless of number of guests! This was the biggest drawback.
Otherwise the stay was pleasant with excellent amenities.

excellent stay will certainly return. the staff were great and helpful. on site parking was a bonus but they should not charge, but at 50 rand a night not a great cost for secure parking. the location was ideal being near all the bars, shops and beach.
