Parking is a problem
Cleaners, a bit noisy, even when they see a 'do nt disturd sign on the door'; they put their cooler box in front of my door & kept chatting & getting ice from the cooler, whic was noisy & disturbing.
At first I was sceptical when my husband suggested we should book our short stay at the Balmoral, because i always thought the beachfront hotels were not as clean as those in the north! But, needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the hotel and saw the beautiful 'old' deco' style. I love the 'antiquiy' feeling, the wooden floors under the beautiful carpet. It's beautiful. The parking was a challenge, we were forced to use taxis/cabs to go to town or the malls because we didn't want to lose our parking; I don't know what could be done as we also saw there was no space, but the hotel management needs to make some plans.
I've told my friends about the convinience of your hotel and they definately will stop looking for b & b's in the north! The resturant area is also nice and clean. There was just one minor incident where the cleaners made noise in front of our room , where they had put their ice cooler box and kept on chatting & making noise, when we had put the 'do not disturb' sign at the door because we had come back very late in the night & wanted to catch up on some sleep. Other than that, we had a GREAT stay. Thnkx.

Christmas is BAD time to stay. LARGE crowds at the beach carnival across the street. Basically not safe for tourists to venture outside
This was a real gem of an old property. The views were wonderful, that is until we looked out on Christmas morning and saw a huge crowd of thousands of basically farm wokers at the carnival across the street, and it went for 2-3 blocks in either direction. Front desk warned us NOT to go out and to our right.. left might be OK for a block. Although we did go out for a short distance and for a short time, we felt it was best (safer) to sit on the front restaurant porch of the hotel and take it in, and we were glad that was our decision. Room was nice. Great I think newly upgraded bathroom. Dining room was typical of the very upscale old style. Our advice is DO NOT spend any time in that area around Christmas Carnival.
