We booked a room with kitchen and jacuzzi. When we arrived there was a horrible smelling room with jaccuzi but without kitchen. The lady told us there were no rooms with kitchen at Herons. After negotiations we got a room without jacuzzi and we were allowd to use the kitchen at the lounge area, next to the room. When we opened the fridge there was some food in there that was moldy. The moment we opened the oven we new where the smel in the kitchen came from. There was a dish in the oven filled with mold. It was food that was in there for several weeks. The same we found in the pots. For those who don't believe this, we have some pictures that we like to send. The wifi that was for free was most of the time not working. We spend a lot of money and payed in advanced for the 3 nights for a room that we didn't got and an awful kitchen to prepare your food.

Lovely hotel
The hotel location was very ideal out of city centre and close by city

The hotel is well kept and clean, breakfast even though not equivalent to a four star hotel the staff are very polite and helpful.
Hotel Feature Tip:
The hotel is slightly far from the Airport, but prior arrangement with the hotel can safe you the costly taxi cost.
The major shopping malls are not very far from the hotel but again all malls close by 6pm.

From King Shaka International Airport to The Heron Guesthouse:
Head southwest and take the first (1st) left toward Mdloti Street. Turn left onto Mdloti Street to a toll road. Travel for approximately 1.7km and continue onto M65, to a toll road. Keep right at the fork and merge onto N2 to a partial toll road. Proceed for approximately 28.9km and at the interchange 165-E B Cloete, keep left and follow signs for N3 toward Durban. Now travel for approximately 4.3km and take exit 2 for Berea Road towards Berea/M13. Merge onto Berea Rd/King Dinuzulu Road North. Turn left onto Currie Road and travel for approximately 1.6km. Turn right onto Heron Road and the destination will be on the right hand side.
