Do-it-yourself under the sun
spacious, clean rooms. Large bathrooms. Most rooms have a private balcony and a view onto a garden, mini-golf or pool.
Buffets are fine with lots of choices. Far better than the 'Italian' restaurant in the hotel. Go for the Buffets, or the Fresh fish in the restaurants in general.

Whe you arrive at El Mouradi through its marbles entrance and step into its spacious round high ceiling reception you think "wow' all that for $40 or so? That was worth the trip! You look to your left and the reception is budding with staff. Waiters are walking around everywhere in and out of rooms with trays in their hands. Then you walk to your room, through the quite generous pool area and the never ending corridors, you reach your room... nice bathroom , nice bedroom, and oh, a balcony. perfect.
You start to settle. Hmm.. the safe doesnt open. Call reception.. eh whats the number? The book doesn't say. Zero? No. Ok. will tell them about the safe next time I am at the reception.
Time to sleep. Open the bed. Yuuuk! a brown wool blanket like its youth hostel... oh well.. its hot enough to keep it by your feet and just use the white sheets.. only they aren't really that white.. more like used-white and mis-ironed. Thats fine.
Next morning. Breakfast buffet is huge. price was included. Everything from continental bread to frsh made omeletes just for you to deep fried whatevers with nuttela.. fruit, kellogs, teas and more. Yumm. Sit down.. oh those sheets again. What? I have to change my table? why? the room is empty? Ok if you want i will sit somewherelse. Uhm.. could i just have some services, and we are four by the way not 2. ok thanks.. and just the spoons too please. Yes thats two. Thanks.
Reception. Good morning, could I please get someone to have a look at my... oh its the other person i have to talk to... ok. Excuse me could I.. oh .. ok. Left right? ok... walk down the 100 meter reception to the end of it. Woman sitting doing nothing. Excuse me could I have someone come and look at my safe it doesn't work. The woman looks at me, stretches her right arm in the direction I came from.. sort of pointing at someone. or at least i think that seeming effort is to point. 'ya.. Hamdi"... is she calling someone? " Ya Hamdi..." "Ya Hamdi"... "Ya Hamdi".. ok, may b
Travel tip:
Gammarth is a great place to live. There are great restaurants walking distance. no market or sightseeing round the hotel (directly). A glass blowing atelier is just across the road though.
