Not an option
Nothing
1. It is really noisy, inspite of the fact that the hotel is located almost in the jungles!! Plenty of motorbikes passing, and music from some bar plays until late. 2. For people without a car it is not an option at all, as it is far away from the sea and all the activities, and the road to the hotel is very dark at night. 3. You have to pick up the keys in a different place, which is a pain, and if you don't know it in advance, you might end up without a place to sleep at all. 4. The room is very average (even though I am not picky about such things at all usually). In my room the hot water did not work.

Out of the way & affordable
Comfortable, links with the Garden Home resort -so you can use their facilities, quiet in the day.
It's all good except the WiFi ain't great, the location is a bit too far away from the main areas and beach, and there's the Marlin Rock Club about 1/2 a km down the road. They have a very powerful sub bass PA and they play it loud and till late on the weekends. It didn't keep me awake but it could annoy some. If you are going to hire a moped and you don't mind a bit of bass, the Alif is an affordable choice.

Great room, great staff. Not so great location
Staff, room comfort, internet speed
The owner is a wonderful lady. The room is big, comfortable and offers many useful features: a fridge, toaster, water boiler... the internet is superfast. The downside is that is a little bit far away from everything. You do have some restaurants about a 15 minute walk away, but other than that the hotel is kind of in the middle of the jungle. I would go back though.

Quiet and clean room
Away from the crowds, quiet location, clean room
This is a great location if you are planning on renting a motorbike. Otherwise, it's a bit too far from everything. We also arrived in the evening and no one was there so we had to call the management and get dropped off at another hotel (this is challenging if you don't speak Thai). Once we were settled though we enjoyed the privacy of the location.

Good room,value.
New building,everything worked.
Room excellent value for money. You have to check in at Garden Home Resort first. But they are very friendly and helpful. Alif is slightly out of the way,on the edge of the forest.Take a torch as road is not lit at night. Less than 5 minutes to main rd,bars and a restaurant.10 minutes walk to beach where there are alot of restaurants. I had no problems with walk.Air con, fridge, hot shower and wifi all excellent.TV but only Thai.I would go back.

In jungle but easy access & affordable
Cheap & privacy
Although the apartment situated in the jungle & off the main road, somehow we found out it's access to the amenities provide no hassle. About 10 minutes to the main road, 15 minutes to Saladan town and. 15 minutes to the nearest beach, Pra-Ae Beach. Got free wifi the whole apartment compare the some resorts that only provide wifi in public area. got satelitte TV with personal decoder but only 1 English-spoken channel, Since, the owner of this apartment & the owner of Lanta Garden Homes were siblings, you can visit Lanta Garden Homes for dine (various selection available) for a discounted price, use their facilities including swimming pool facing the beach and book your diving, snorkelling, fishing, island hopping etc2 their. As far as i'm concern, it's worth every penny jungle-life-staying!

Clean and cosy for a reasonable price
quite spacious
Is nice but quite out the way would suggest hiring a scooter. It's in the forest so there were loads of ants, Mosquitos, spiders and lizards coming in so would suggest bringing repellant. But apart from that it was a reasonable price

big rooms but out of the way
big room and bathroom
plenty of space and all ameneties provided. you have to check in at lanta garden home then they drive you up to alif, but it means you get to use the pool there. it is quite out the way, but still walking distance to beach and bars/ restaurants. but be sure to take a torch out at night as once you get off the main road there are no lights and almost totally black in some places. as its on the edge of the forest it can get very noisy at night, especially as the doors/windows do not keep any noise out. this can aslo be a problem with other loud guests! overall an ok place to stay, you will probably struggle to find anything cheaper with air con

Hit and miss

Nightmare. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE.
-
Alif Appartment is a small building far from the beach, we knew that so it's ok. It's rather clean, especially the toilet. But : There's a pile of trash and a turkish toilet in open air visible from the balcony. Yes... And it's located in the corner of a rubber plantation, popular for attracting small snakes. There's a very noisy techno club you can hear at night. The room service is every 2 days, and not enough towels unless you ask. The lighting is white and aggressive, not cosy at all. And no small lamp on the desk or in the room for a dimmed light. It feels like a lab. Internet was good, but the wifi code was not in the rooms, I had to call with roaming and waste 3 or 4€ for the call and ask for the code... Long story short, do not go.
