Great place to stay

Spacious, quiet, friendly staff
Our room is spacious and staff were all very welcoming and friendly. Had a great stay at Alila Ubud but generally, there is nothing much to be done in Ubud.

'Disappointed with the hotel "regulations"

pool, room, toilet
I arrived at 12pm and tried to check-in but the room was not ready so I left my bag and came back at 5pm. Was lucky to be given room just right beside the pool, so we can walk in to the pool from the balcony. Room was fantastic and clean. I accidentally leave a stain on the bed sheet and bed cover because I got my period when I'm sleeping, but not on the bed. So I told the front desk before I go breakfast to apologize about it. Being a frequent travel and stayed in so many 4 or 5 stars hotels around the world, I know that this wont be an issue. I was so surprise during the check out they actually ask us to pay for the stain. It's something that happen out of my control, I understand if it is something I done badly, like accidentally burn the bed sheet with my smoke cigarette or break glass when I'm drunk. I was little upset, then before we left, I realize that my boyfriend didn't know I have drink bill to pay. So i went back to the front desk to told them I have bill to pay. Then I told the staff in the front desk how upset i am, he then said "it's company regulation", then I ask for his manager but he do nothing about it and just handed over the bill to me. The cost of the stain is Rp 25.000 and my drink is Rp 97.500 I could have walk away without paying the bill, but I didn't. And I thought they will be more understanding with the stain issue. Unfortunately they are not. We booked this hotel because of the rating and stars, now I realize it's not worth it all. This is not 4 stars service I ever expect.

Unforgettable stay at beautiful hotel

Very friendly staff, superb room, great food.
Stayed for 3 nights in Valley Villa. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. Made us feel very comfortable throughout the stay. Food was great too. Most hotels would serve buffet breakfast, but not here. Initially I was a tad disappointed we had no buffet breakfast (though still free), but in hindsight I think this was the better option as seeing the same buffet for 3 mornings in a row isn't exactly a good idea. Instead, it comes in a simple menu where they change things a little bit from day to day. I was really looking forward to breakfast every morning. Had dinner once at the same restaurant too, and the food was equally as good. The room was pretty nice too, had full view of the natural landscape surrounding the room. In the morning when you step out you get to breath in the natural air from the forest. The villa room is really close to the natural landscape, and as such expect to see some bugs/small lizards around the room. We had some frogs croaking at night around the bathtub as well. It didn't really bother me but you can ask the staff to catch them if it bothers you from getting a good night's sleep. Bed's a bit on the soft side, I'd prefer a slightly firmer mattress. Would be nice if they had a handheld showerhead as well. I did take a look at all 3 villas they had, Valley, Pool and Terrace. To me the Valley Villas are the best, though you get a private pool from the Pool Villas. You get the best view out of Valley. The hotel is quite far from everything else. They have shuttle bus that takes you to Ubud town, which takes about 25mins. If you're afraid you might be hungry later in the night, it's best to buy some cup noodles beforehand. If not you can order food some the restaurant and they'll send it to your room. I tried the club sandwich and expected nothing of it but it tasted pretty good! Overall my stay here has been a memorable one. Great hotel, highly recommend it.
