Pleasantly surprised

Tranquil setting, relaxing, pool
After reading a few reviews here and I was a little sceptical about what I would find, but I can truly say that I was more than surprised, after staying in many hotels around the world including Asia and Philippines itself I found the Almost resort an ideal resting place, I was originally booked for 4 nights but extended to 6. I would definitely recommend the jnr suites for there size having 2 double beds and they are also very close to the pool and the restaurant seating. The staff were all very pleasant and couldn't do enough to help you with your needs. I never had any problems with dirty water in the shower or cold water as I have read in some reviews. My only gripe was the WiFi wouldnt work in room and had to sit near reception where I'm sat right now writing this review. I would definitely recommend to others and would stay here again if visiting Butuan

for butuan is ok about the best in town

location, pool,
i upgraded to Jnr suite to be close by the pool, other rooms appear to be right down the back of the hotel area, some renovations are taking place in sept for some time but do not interfere to day to day activities , room was plenty amenities as per most of fili hotels needs small attention to be up graded ,

2 star hotel with 3 and 4 star prices

some of the staff were friendly and helpful and they also gave me a ride to the airport
The hotel is overpriced for the amenities and condition. I paid $87 USD per night for a deluxe room with breakfast. I paid $88 per night just prior to this at the Limketkai Luxe hotel in CDO. The difference is amazing. The room at Almont is bare bones..has no tissue, no kettle for coffee or tea, no safe in the room, only 1 small bottle (350 ml) of water for two people per day, no fitness center, and only a small bar of soap and a small plastic package of shampoo (no other toiletries provided). Most of the staff was friendly and helpful, however when I checked in, the lady at the front desk was not welcoming at all. I have stayed here before so I guess I should have known. But it really it home when I compared it to the Luxe hotel in CDO and the Seda hotels in CDO and Davao. It is not a good value in my opinion and I will seek other accommodations when I return to Butuan City.

Very dishonest billing practices. watch your bill!

Location, Grounds, friendly staff
I would never stay here again. They cheat the guests and the BIR by charging the tax first and adding the room svc charge on top...thus charging you a service charge on the TAX!!!...They (head room service guy) acknowledged to me that they do this, they know it is wrong, and only one in a hundred guests catch them at it. They also list one price on the menu and try to charge a higher price on their bill. You have to watch this place so closely, they are always trying to overcharge their guests!!.. The shower spurts brown water on and off, and ants were EVERYWHERE in our room. Had to switch rooms after first night due to warm and LOUD AirCon. Just as many ants in the next room. This place has gone so far downhill. I will never stay here again. It is not even a 2 star lodging. Mostly though, it is their willfull intent to overcharge guests which makes me dislike this hotel so much. They change the bill immediately IF you are sharp enough to catch them. The grounds are nice, but charging 250 pesos per guest to swim in the pool (even if it was just for an hour like our 3 brief guests) is another example of Almont Price Gouging. I hope the tax authorities take a look at their practices. They should not be charging TAX first, and then lumping their service charge on top. This makes them more money and cheats the Tax Bureau. Another thing, I sat at the bar and ordered two beers, tipped very well as usual, and they added a SERVICE charge! For what? The bartender reaching over the bar to hand me a beer? This place treats their customers very poorly, and I for one will never return.
