Pleasant stay but overpriced and exploitative

Location, ambience, food quality
Our stay at Aodhi was pleasant, but we couldn't help but feel like we were being fleeced at every opportunity. More on that later - first the good stuff. The Aodhi is located approximately 2km from the main attraction in the area, the massive Kumbhalgarh Fort. And for that, its location can't be beat. The hotel is also designed in a heritage Rajasthani style that goes well with its surroundings. There's lots of trees and greenery on the property and chances are high that you'll wake up to the songs and sounds of birds. The swimming pool is a decent size and is also the setting for a nightly Rajasthani folk dance performance. We skipped that because we had seen dances like that before. OK, now on to the negatives. For the price we paid for a night at this hotel, we would have expected to receive complimentary mineral water every night. Instead, the hotel charges Rs. 125 for a bottle. Second, the hotel charges 25% more for food from the room service menu to be delivered to your room. I mean isn't that the point of room service - to have it delivered to your room? Management was essentially charging a 25% gratuity for this "service". There was no note of this on the menu, which made this policy even more questionable. This really rubbed us the wrong way. Oh yeah, our cushion covers were awfully stained, too. If you're interested in visiting the fort, I'd suggest making a day trip from Udaipur instead of spending the night here. It's only about 2 hours away.

Staff service is bad. Always begin a conversation with a 'no'.

a restful stay in a very friendly hotel

unusual design, lovely pool area, nice grounds, quiet
we really enjoyed it the room was lovely and we found the grounds interesting though the steps might prove an obstacle to older people. The pool was lovely and we enjoyed nice meals.

Peaceful place

make up
main advantage of hotel is its location. it is close to kumbhalgarh fort and on the way to ranakpur temples. make up of hotel is amazing. it give feeling of staying in fort. rooms are small and utilities like intercom, tea maker, all functions of ac are not assured to give you 100% satisfaction. it may or may not be but for a remote place like kumbhalgarh it's acceptable. food is toooooooooooo costly. food can be manage in other restaurants also. overall its good place to be relax for 2 days.

Happy as clams

Natural setting, lovely architecture, ambience, Kumbhalgarh Fort
my husband and i stayed in one of the smaller rooms, number 24, but we were happy as clams there. it was private, cozy, clean, and conveniently located near the bar and restaurant. the hotel is a very lovely place to spend several days, including exploring the amazing kumbhalgarh fort and the wildlife sanctuary. we feasted on the delicious food and also enjoyed watching the rajasthani dancers and singers interacting with the guests and their children in the evenings. so far, modernity has bypassed the surrounding rural area, where life goes on as it has for hundreds of years. the sky is so clear, the atmosphere so peaceful. now we want to bring other members of our family to this lovely place.

Great location close to Kumbalgarh Fort

Good service, comfortable and fun layout
This is a quirky hotel - monkeys occasionally race through knocking everything over - in which the staff went out their way to make our stay enjoyable over the New Year.
