Great Location
Great location close to the Old Quarter of Hanoi. Heaps of markets and coffee shops only a short stroll away. A bit noisy at night time but that comes with staying where all the action is. There are steep stairs to get to the rooms but the staff helped us get our bags up. Our flight was delayed by four hours and we had a pick up organised through the hotel and they were still there to pick us up and the staff stayed back to check us in at nearly midnight, this was great. The rooms were tidy but the shower didn't really work. Overall the staff were really great and we enjoyed our 5 days in Hanoi

Please beware...
Near Hospital...
There are only 2 things I am ok with... 1 is the fact that it is right across a hospital and 2. the staff are friendly. I hate the owner / Manager of this place. He is rude and tried to rip me off. Basically i had to extend my stay for an additional of 4 hours and I was told i had to pay 300,000 dong. But when i was checking out he told me he had made a mistake an i had to pay 1,000,000 dong. Money is not the issue here. i mean people make mistakes... although i think he should have been responsible for his mistake but! he was very rude. He almost looked like he was trying to rob me. Then another guest walked by and over heard our fight and soon after he got into the same position as i did. This place is simply horrible and i strong advise everyone to stay away. Why? Because vietnam is a place where most people incl the police don't speak english and tourist are at a bigger disadvantage compared to Thailand or Malaysia.

Heart of Hanoi...
Location, quiet room, comfortable
I requested an upper floor which faced into the city for a nice view (not the street). The room had wood paneling, tub, big nice bed with comfy sheets... big TV and coffee packets sealed the deal. I got a great deal and with this in account 5 stars out of 5. So there was an expansive, beautiful wood staircase leading up to my room. This I enjoyed but some elderly may require a lift? I do not eat breakfast so cannot comment.

budget simple room
Good location. Safe environment. Polite staff
Stayed 3 nights. 1st night was at the new extension with lift. Rest of the night were given rooms at higher floor in the old wing of the hotel with no lift Room was simple but toilet was very cramp. Toiletries provided is not adequate and it is better to bring your own towel. Breakfast is simple with French loves, egg, fruits and cake . Hotel location is great as it is about 10 mins walk to the lake and old quarter. Famous pho 10 shop and Cathedral church are just a stone throw away. Weekend market at Hang Dao is crowded and interesting but not worth paying for the stuff they sell because you can get better quality at the same price in the shop with good bargaining skill. As we here during the winter season most shops sell winter clothing and stuff bearing the brand of North Face. These are cheaper but quality also matter. Halong bay cruise with overnight stay is a must in Hanoi. It is a 3 to 4 hours drive away. Tour package come with kayaking ,visit to limestone cave and fliating village. e ou can leave your luggage with the hotel while you are away for the cruise and I must agree that the hotel staff ensure your luggage was properly tagged and safe guarded. Sapa is beautiful but trekking for many hours are for the strong and fit. We tried Hao Lu Tam Coa . A 2 n half hours drive away. You were be sitting in a boat paddled either by hands or feet through a river with nice scenery but is better to come here before your Halong bay. Tips of 40,000 dong or US $2 are expected from tourists at the end of your boat ride. If you are tired of Vietnamese food, you can have a good western meal at gecko restaurant at Hang Bong. Prices though comparatively more expensive than local food but reasonable from where I am from.

buget clean hotel
it is within walking distance to lake, shopping
We stayed for 3 nights. After our return from Halong bay we will given a double room in the old sector of the hotel with no lift. Breakfast is simple with 3 slices of french loaves with egg for those who order English breakfast. Not much choices. Check out was early at 12pm sharp. Counter receptionist speak and understand English. Those who want a taste of local snack like puff, prawn fritter there were stall open by evening along Ly Quou Su.
