Stunning retreat in the midst of the city

location, service, facilities, gardens
9.7
The service was impeccable, our room beautifully appointed and the location allowed us easy access to shopping and sightseeing. The pool and gardens are peaceful ...it's hard to believe you are only moments from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok.

A little oasis in Bangkok

Big room and bathroom, beautiful garden, convenient location
8.7
Low-rise, boutique hotel at the end of Sukhumvit Soi 1. The 24 rooms are mostly large with well designed bathrooms. The location is almost free of traffic, though fast commuter boats plough along the nearby khlong. Rooms near the khlong and near the hotel entrance should be double-glazed to minimise noise. Ploen Chit skytrain station is a 10-min walk up the soi, then you are 2 stations from Siam. Taxis are plentiful at nearby Bumrungrad Hospital and hotel staff will fetch one if asked. The hotel is set in a spectacular small garden with a pleasant pool. The restaurant serves good Thai food, though under-spiced by local standards. Elefin cafe (halfway down the soi) is a pleasant alternative. There are many Indian restaurants in the nearby Ashok area. The hotel is close to the airport expressway, normally a 30-min taxi-ride.
Hotel Feature Tip: The tucked-away library has Internet PCs and a selection of books to read or exchange.

Peace amidst madness

Beauifully conceived revivalof a Thai villa with furnishings and decoration tomatch the restoration

Great small hotelfor those whodon't thrive on the 'mega' hotel atmosphere. We hardly saw another guest except when checking in or out. David, the owner/manager could not be more helpful, he knows Thailand intimately and is quite the raconteur to boot. He personalises the experience for his guests. The rooms are spacious and comfotable but could do with a chair or two. having said that why sit in your room when the pool area is a delight, and there is a beautiful library where one can read, compute or just relax in peace and quiet. This hotel is a secure breathing lung in the heart of a mad city. Just the thing to come back to and revive after a day out in BKK.

a pleasant surprise

the whole hotel is beautiful asethetically and set in peaceful surrounds that reflects the intentions of the hotels philosophy. yummiest vege menu. 5 min walk to sky train so can get anywhere you need it BKK.

if you, like myself, are not a huge fan of the often sterile modern hotel, preferring a bohemian, chic and intimate atmosphere, then this is a place to try. set in an old bangkok mansion, the moment you step through the gates, into the lush garden setting you are enveloped by its quirky charm. high ceilinged hallways are filled with beautiful antiques and mutli coloured stain glass windows which throw dappled light as you weave through the hotel into the garden and pool area. we stayed in a studio suite with balcony which was overly generous in size and comfort. free wi-fi internet is super speedy, beds are fab and bathrooms large and filled with natural aromatic product that are delish (so unusual for a hotel!) please, do try it.
Hotel Feature Tip: soi 1, which the hotel is set in, is full of little thai eateries and street foods stalls so has a vast variety of food to try, very cute little soi. CABS- walk to the main road (sukhumvit) if you want a cab as it is hard for cabs to drive out of soi 1 as its one way and can get caught in massive traffic jams at peak hours.

Relaxing stay

Oasis setting. Deluxe room was perfectly comfortable with beautiful teak floor. The whole hotel shows a high level of taste and refinement. Solid construction. Sumptuous.

This is an ideal, restful place to stay very close to Bangkok's leading private hospital. There's a spa (I didn't try). Ate a tasty alfresco dinner in the intimate back garden. The wait staff was very attentive, placing the fans as guests arrived/departed the five tables. For breakfast I tried the dining room which must have been the old house's main living room. Nice 1920's atmosphere. I will definitely stay again. Impressive attention to detail comparable to Oriental. No kidding!!
Travel tip: Close to Bumrungrad Hospital, Sukhumvit and the Skytrain station.

Lovely

great location, really friendly staff, exceellent service, great restaurant

One of the nicest places I have stayed in Bangkok, a real retreat in a hectic city. The gardens and poolside are really nice to relax and and its hard to believe that you are in the city centre.
Hotel Feature Tip: beautiful simming pool and gardens

A Hidden Treasure

A lovely boutique hotel in the heart fo Bangkok, near to centre and sky train, lovely clean rooms, lovely food in the restaurant, made to feel very welcome indeed.

A haven within the bustle of Bangkok, on entering it is very peaceful, with a lovely pool surrounded by trees. The rooms are decorated to a very high standard, there is everything you need in the bathroom. The food in the restaurant is of an excellent standard, and the owner is most welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is served on the terrace by the pool. There is also a spa on site. I cannot recommend this hotel hughly enough. Would definitely stay there if I ever returned to Bangkok.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: As advised to go and see the Grand Palace take the sky train to the river and get a boat up the river to the Grand Palace.

Ariyasomvilla Hotel Bangkok

Beautifully decorated rooms, good swimming pool, excellent breakfast, a welcome haven after a long night flight from England.
6.7
We stayed at the Ariyasomvilla for two nights on our way to Vietnam, we had a very comfortable stay, charming host, beautiful room, excellent service, and despite being in a busy city, the hotel was quiet. However, we also stayed there on our way back from Cambodia to England. Sadly we were given room 207, an old room, very dark, under a staircase which creaked very loudly every time someone went up and down the stairs. The room was over the kitchen/dining room so early in the morning there was the normal clatter of cutlery and crockery etc. The bathroom was a lean-to add on and only room for one person at a time. We complained the next morning to the owner who was very apologetic. We feel the hotel has let itself down by renting out such a room.
Restaurant Tip: Kinaree Restaurant, 8 Street, a 20 minute walk from the hotel
