Arundel Hotel Summer very poor in hot weather

Location only
I stayed during the last week of June and start of July, weather was very hot and I was given a room in the roof, no fan, no air conditioning, windows were almost sealed shut and felt they hadn't been opened for a long time and when opened the amount of dead bugs and spiders that all came in was frankly disgusting. Rooms don't even have basic thing like irons and ironing boards and staff were far from friendly. Front desk staff were slow and rather insulting at checkin and restaurant staff seemed to do anything rather than help and if you walked in cause service was so slow they even shouted at people. I only stayed there cause it was the only place available, I certainly wouldn't recommend it to others.

Upgrade the coffeepot!

Helpful staff, location, comfortable room.
They serve instant coffee at breakfast. The continental breakfast is a little thin- bread and cheese, cereal or fruit. Otherwise the place is fine.

very pleasant, professional with a cosy character

big rooms - pleasant atmosphere - willing to help attitude
it was great, pleasant, feeling as if you are in a small hotel, although it is big, always willing to give you the maximum of all the possibilities, it was clean, all necessary utilities. you do not have more wishes than what they give you. it means that just 'everything' a person wants in holidays is there. i would always like a hotel like this and specifically because you do not feel you are in a big business place

Don't expect eye contact

Location, easy to find, good potential
I stayed just one night, in a single room. This is an English hotel so single room means very small. Still, it was modern and clean and even though the sink was in the bedroom whilst the toilet and shower were in a separate room, that was fine. I stay in a lot of hotels in the Far East and Middle East and that spoils me: in those places, levels of service are usually very high. In this case, I was party to two examples of poor service. I expect hotel staff to greet me: the waiter at breakfast greeted me but he was clearly stressed or in a great hurry. He found me a table and then left. I realised later that there was a menu that told me about the cooked breakfast option ... he had hidden it under the mat that was under the coffee pot. I didn't want a cooked breakfast but I realised it was an option when another guest arrived who got a lot of attention, was offered the cooked breakfast and was generally made a fuss of. Maybe he is a frequent visitor there. At check out, the receptionist didn't flinch when I arrived at the desk: she carried on with her task. I said good morning, can I check out, please? No eye contact and she responded in the way that someone with a personal problem responds. Quiet, looking down at the floor. I was processed in silence and as I said goodbye, I was left with silence. Did I feel valued at this hotel? No, I am afraid I didn't.
