Disappointing hotel but worth it for the islands
wifi was extremely weak and could rarely catch it at reception. We stayed on the second floor, we could hear every step the people above us made and it shook the whole room. Staff were lazy and indifferent to our complaints for the room. No fridge, TV or kettle services. Beach is not really for swimming, we took the jungle trek to PIR which had gorgeous beach, also would recommend snorkelling or diving. Do not expect to find alcohol anywhere on the islands before 6pm.

Great value!
After roughing it on Perhentian Kecil, we were delighted to spend two nights here. The staff was welcoming. There is a nice pool and dining hall with complimentary breakfast. We did have some noisy small lizards creep in and getting them out late at night was a challenge. That's island life, though. Hot showers in a great en suite. We were very comfortable.

You Get What You Paid
The resort is located at a nice beach area. The facility is simple but more than enough. The staffs are very friendly, and they are really helpful. The buffet dinner was ok but not so luxury. After all, the price is really attractive and fit with our budget so I guess it's ok. The room and toilet can be cleaner especially when the sands is everywhere in the room. Still, it's a nice resort. :)

Beach is awful
Nice hotel, good staff, good pool but awful beach. Boats park here permanently & sewage from hotel & surrounding gets pumped here. Full of dangerous corals and nobody swims in the sea here. You would have to take a boat out to swim in the sea or do a tricky 30 minute jungle trek acoss the island to Perhentian Island Resort where it is amazing for swimming, turtle watching & baby shark watching (we saw all of them there). As well we saw sting rays & all kinds of fishes. Be warned though, if you're hoping to see colourful corals, u will be disappointed...we ventured as far as Pulau Rawa but the corals are mainly dead, bleached & quite dissapointing. If you're planning to visit P.Perhentian, make every effort to stay at Perhentian Island Resort or u would be spending at least RM$40 per adult for return trips to good beach locations. Restaurants here are geared more towards foreigners, so prices are a little steep. Beer is available at few restaurants from RM$11+ (can of local beer).

Looking a little worn
The hotel is more than adequate for a Base. We were there for 5 days. The pool is fantastic. Dive centre attached to the hotel is extremely helpful. Breakfast was OK nothing special.

Awful place to stay
PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS RESORT AND SPOIL YOUR VACATION. The room allotted to us was awful. There was no latch from inside on the main door, AC was not working, no water in western closet, ants all around the place. We requested the receptionist to allot a different room. She didnt provide another room and instead we were informed that technicians would come and attend to all the problems in the room, late she alloted another room which was OK when compared to the previous room. The room didnt have TV, floors were dirty, lots of red ants, shower nozzle was broken, dirty linen. They charged RM412 for two persons for 1 night, but it is definitely not value for money. PLEASE AVOID THIS RESORT AT ANY COST. WOULD REQUEST AGODA TO SEVERE TIES WITH THIS RESORT SO THAT NOBODY ELSE BOOKS ACCOMODATION IN FUTURE EVEN BY MISTAKE.

horrible service-extra bed
there was water leaking from the water hose which wet the toilet paper. the room stank like something rotten. they were very hesitant to give us a blanket for the extra bed. i think they were lazy more than anything. the room was very poorly designed with so much waste space. would not recommend.

Quiet and relaxing place
Everything is good, except they don't provide breakfast for all of us as we booked a room for 4, but they only gave us breakfast for 2. Other than that no other complaints. Definitely a nice place to relax.

A subpar resort
We stayed at the Family Deluxe Room for 2 nights. For the price we paid, we would expect a room of better quality. Location wise, Arwana was good, as it was located right along the beach with multiple restaurants around. However, the room was poorly upkept. There was sand on the bed sheets, on the room floor as well as on the toilet floor. The room smelled musky as well. Air conditioning was cooling enough but the air conditioner leaked pretty much throughout our stay, leaving the balcony wet all the time. Water pressure was ridiculously low, and the water heater didn't really function well. To make matters worse, water supply was disrupted for 3-4 times throughout our stay. Water was always cut off past midnight, sometimes during the morning and afternoon as well. We called the frontdesk to report this issue and the staffs only told us to wait. It took ~3 hours for the water supply to recover. Drinking glasses and water pail provided by the resort in the room were not clean as well. But we enjoyed the pool throughout our stay, despite the dirtiness of the pool. You can clearly see twigs and dead insects and even rocks/pebbles in the pool. The restaurant was infested with flies, and we had a hard time fending off flies while eating our food. The breakfast buffet didn't offer many varieties of food, but food was okay and pretty reasonably priced. (22/pax) Staffs were generally pleasant and polite. All of them could speak/understand English. An upside of the resort is that they provided filtered water for guests' consumption. There was also a convenience store near the pool, where you could find toiletries, snacks and food. Prices can be steep though so it is recommended to bring those along with you.
