Stunning location but standard rooms aren't 5 star
Location; Grounds; Castle interior; Friendly Staff
my wife had been wanting to stay in ashford for a long time and overall i would say she was very pleased to have finally got there. the setting is truly spectacular and the grounds of the estate offer wonderful options for walking. the common areas of the castle are every bit the 5 star experience and the food in the dungeon bar (much cheaper and relaxed than the main george v restaurant) was excellent. the only small gripe we'd have was that the room was quite basic for a 5 star hotel. there wasn't anything wrong with it, but we have stayed in much nicer rooms for a lot less. i'd imagine the deluxe rooms / suites are a different matter of course!
