The Royal is a perfect base for exploring Battambang. it is right by the central market and has plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby.
the hotel had a tuk-tuk waiting for us when we arrived and we hadn't even advised what bus we were arriving on!
We booked a great tuk-tuk tour to the bamboo train, caves and bats through reception.
The staff are so kind and friendly all addressing by our names and could not be more helpful.
The rooms were basic, but comfortable and functional.
Breakfast was served on the rooftop, a good selection of continental breakfast items and great coffee.
On checkout we were both presented with a little gift which really meant a lot!

As good as the rest

We stayed at the Royal for a few nights and found it just as described. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The bathroom is one of those with the shower unscreened so the whole thing is awash after a shower but you can live with it. The hotel is near the market and a few blocks from the river. We did not eat at the rooftop restaurant it lacked atmosphere and was really hot. There are some good cafes directly across the road which offer a range of breakfast options.

Had a great stay in Battambang. Take a tuk tuk day trip to bamboo train, temples and see the bats. Great day out.

Good value comfortable hotel

Hotel was pretty old and daggy but rooms were massive and clean. Bathroom sink didn't drain, a bit annoying. Good location though, breakfast on the roof tho was very average, I think the pancakes were cooked in fish oil?! I'd probably stay again though, not bad for the price.
