i just loved everything about the sanctuary villa!
this hotel actually exceeded my expectations. on agoda the photographs looked nice, but in reality i thought it was stunningly beautiful and a real treasure. from the beautifully decorated open reception foyer with statues, flowers, silk decorations, ponds, etc.
separate villas quietly lined within the grounds. spacious, with the feeling of luxury with a deep bathtub that overlooked a small but private courtyard. huge comfortable bed. dvd player.
the staff could not do enough for us. drinks& snack menu by the pool. we dined at the oh yeah restaurant on the premises every night of our three night stay. delicious food. they do have trainees who did the best to fill our orders and gave us excellent service.
i would highly recommend the sanctuary villa.

in hotel massage available. for 60 minute khmer massage in one of the spare villas. very nice. two free computers in the foyer for guests. free wifi.

Green location and good service

the hotel arranged a taxi to meet us at siem reap airport and return us to siem reap the next day at a very competitive price. we were given a welcome cold drink and fruit on our arrival and found fruit in the room. the hotel is set in pleasant grounds outside the town, which when there is not a wedding, would be quiet. it is however quite easy to walk into the town, although one would not be able to just 'pick up' a tuc tuc but have to order one as it is not on their normal route. we found the staff all helpful and would recommend it to others.

Cambodian 4.5 star but not Western 4.5 star

Sanctuary is definitely not a 4.5 star property by Western standards.
Besides the bed being harder than a rock and the shower leaking causing it to flood out the bathro m every time we showered, there were quirky 'romantic' touches like red light bulbs in the bed side lamps which made it impossible to read in bed (or see much at all).
PS: Did I mention we were in the Deluxe Suite which had a spa bath that took up a huge chunk of the room but the bathroom was so pokey you couldn't even get two people in there at once, let alone put your toiletry bag on the sink. Also, it had an annoying sensor light that went on automatically when you went into the bathroom and stayed on for at least 20 minutes - very annoying at night!!!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Battambong is a great town. Enjoy the bamboo train while it lasts and definitely make the trip to Phnom Banan - well worth the climb up the more than 360 steps. Also, look out for the first food and drink vendor on the left as you exit the temple - she and he mother cook some great authentic Khmer food - and so cheap!

Great place to relax and to discover the region

We stayed four nights at the Sanctuary Villa for New Year – we liked it very much! As we arrived they welcomed us very warmly, we got a cool, wet towel, a fruit plate and a delicious refreshing drink. Our bungalow was spacious and beautifully furnished. A large and comfy bed, a small sofa, a table with chair, a TV and a fridge, etc. And there is even a small room for your luggage – something like a dressing room. The bathroom was spacious as well, with a large bathtub and a separate shower (even with a glass-front!). Behind the bungalow there is a small private terrace-place with a table and two chairs.
In front of our bungalow was the beautiful pool and the well kept garden.
For breakfast you can order on the evening before from a variety on the menu, the pancakes were our favourite.
If you want, you can rent bicycles for free.
The staff were all very, very friendly and did a great job – thank you!

This is the perfect place to stay for anyone who wants to relax after hectic touring around Siem Reap and Angkor Wat. It is an oasis of calm in a busy, dusty, noisy city.

the room was large and spacious, loved the outdoor bathtub...only issues were the mosquitos when using it. while the service was exceptional - the rooms do get hot in the day when you are out and about (ac only works with key in the room electrical center) - and even though there are large windows - no screens, so you can't open them to get a breeze. and without the ac - room gets a little musty. would still stay here on my return - might ask for one of the rooms closer to the pool as they have more shade. only other issue for me, but it's a personal thing - beds were too hard. but if you sleep on a harder bed - you might be okay.

If you need Laundry done - the price is right and serivce is quick.

Met with a warm welcome, some ice cold tea and fresh fruits the rest of our two night stay followed a similar path.
Villas are really nice and well equipped, breakfast is lovely with a great selection to choose from and the staff were really helpful in making our stay as good as it could be.
Restaurant Tip:
Nary's kitchen is a great place to eat, and the cookery school incredible value for money.
The fish amok was the best we had on our trip and it is a very relaxed atmosphere.

Wonderful relaxing hotel

The staff were fantastic. The reception staff were very helpful and arranged a day trip around Battambang with one of the hotel's tuk tuk drivers who was also knowledgeable and friendly. He even suggested where we may like not to go.
The pool was great and the rooms spacious and well served. The food in the restaurant was amazing with enormous attention to detail.
Hotel Feature Tip:
The hotel is out of the way, but a short tuk tuk ride away from the town. You should be aware that there are three hotel with "villa" in their name, be sure to specify the Sanctuary...

Beautiful boutique hotel with excellent service

We love our stay in this boutique hotel. This cosy hotel has 8 villas each independent of the other with an eco friendly small pool surrounded by the villas. The establishment is not big but tastefully decorated. So much greenery and natural surrounding. We even had little frogs leaping around when we were having our dinner! The staff provides excellent service. Special mention must be given to the receptionist whom we forgot to ask his name. He was very attentive and nice. Will definitely be back again!
