blanket too thin, feel cold at night
staff are friendly, room is clean and comfortable, about 1000 sq feet, really big for our Hong Kongee. breakfast is simple but just enough. warm atmorsphere and good decoration though the restaurant is not big as we expected. no lift so u should ask the staff to carry your baggage to 2nd or 3rd floor.

Excellent service, excellent location, nice traditional rooms.
Aircon in standard rooms not very good. Breakfast was poor. No lift.
Having booked into the hotel next door, we thought that this was a small step down. It is similar in price but not in value for money. It is a very nice hotel with decent decor throughout but just didn't amaze.
The location of the hotel is excellent; right on the waterfront/riverside with lots of other hotels, restaurants and bars. It is only a short walk to the National Museum and Royal Palace as well as all the most popular eating/drinking places, although eating and drinking in this area isn't cheap.
The staff were excellent. We had problems in our room with airconditioning, which just didn't really cool the room down. They offered us another room but it had the same problem. They then upgraded us from a standard room to a suite. Probably not too surprisingly the airconditioning in the suite bedroom was very good. However, the unit in the lounge area was still very poor which meant that most of the suite was still warm.
The condition of the hotel was good. The three rooms we saw were very well kept and very clean. In the morning the breakfast table had a small stain on it and the breakfast area was not very neat but was still clean.
Again, breakfast was not very good. It was self-service and by the time we went for breakfast at 8:30 food had run out or gone dry. There was not a very big selection either and we just ate toast.
Overall the hotel was good.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Barter with the tuk tuk drivers to see the local attractions. We booked one for half a day to see S21, the Killing Fields of Cheung Ek, Russian Market and were dropped off at FCC before walking to Royal Palace and National Museum. This all for $15US. Much cheaper than booking a tour.

rooms not special, stairs are rediculous.
I had read the reviews on this hotel, and the stairs were mentioned. I stayed on the 4th floor, I counted 100 very steep stairs, I am 52 and quite fit, but my goodness it was like climbing mount Everest. The rooms were not as nice as in the photos. I thoroughly recommend the cara hotel, it has elevator, nice enough rooms, 5 mins from Riverside for $1 on a tuk tuk, and the restaurant and reception staff are excellent.

wonderful room - huge. staff very friendly. close to the palace. had special offer
the worst breakfast in my whole month travel around asia. Don't bother
i only stayed a short time in phnom penh, initially i did not like the city as it was very hectic, i had spent a week at the very calming temples. However within 24 hours i had changed my mind. Loved it. Would go back right now. You don't need to stay near the palace, there are probably more picturesque areas to stay, this stretch at the time of writing (Aug 09) was pretty much a building site. Travel is cheap so look around. However i do highly recommend the rooms here. Whilst you are here go have a drink at the FCC (foreign correspondence cafe) for a bit of journalist history. And of course the killing fields and S21 which are very easy to get to. The unnamed dead should be remembered.
Shopping Tip : The kids will appreciate you buying a cheap bowel of food just as much as giving them money, at least this way they will get to eat rather than their boss. They may seem a nuisance at the start, talk to them, they are friendly and extremely bright, they were in fact my highlight of the city.

very close to the nightlife
we chose this hotel purely on location and as two single guys travelling its location for the night life was good. we where staying in an annex section which had no lift and as it was the end of our holiday we didnt bother with the breakfast. the rooms where comfortable if a little basic. the lack of a lift would be a hinderence to older or less mobile people. but it is well situated for the nightlife
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : a short walk to the Kings palace and national museum

Very central and within easy walking distance of most of the standard sites.
The air conditioners in our rooms were completely inadequate - unfortunate in a hotel which markets itself as boutique and personal.Food from the restaurant was excessively expensive even in this downtown area.
We took the cheaper rooms which were small and , as stated above, with inadequate air conditioning and fan which in rainy season Phnom Peng made sleeping at night uncomfortable. Staff tried very hard but I suspect were constrained by owner or management penny pinching. At this price ( for better off tourists not travellers) we are certain people can do better
Travel tip : It is probably sensible to follow 'Friends' (a non government organisation to protect children) advice and not give to, or buy from, children but give Riel to landmine victims or better still a more substantial amount to a reliable charitable organisation.

Furnishings especially in the restaurant and to lesser extent the rooms.
This is a nice clean hotel in a great location with generally friendly staff, although not universally so. The furnishings are good and traditional Khmer. The breakfast was fairly limited in a rather poorly presented buffet. The major flaw was the air conditioning despite the additional fan - the unit in the bedrooms was simply inadequate for the size of the room. The price was reasonable overall but extra meals in the restaurant while good were over-priced.

Air conditioner takes too long to cool room, too expensive
I think the best compliment this hotel shall get is that the location is perfect, right in the center of town. The design of the hotel is not very trendy, but has his own charm. But everything in the hotel is very well maintened and cleaned, and the staff is helpful.

Riverside front, location good. lots of eating places in area
Noisy in the front facing rooms. NO LIFT- climbing up to the thried floor was very very tedious.
Its an Ok place to stay. there a lot of hotels along the river - they are all probably as good or bad. The new Amanjaya hotel seemed good from outside. the staff here were very friendly and the breakfast was Ok. the room was fine- does need a bit of looking after and upgrading. for a two night stay it was ok. the stairs are very high- each floor has three flights and one landing- very tedious after walking all day and sighseeing.
Travel tip : The Indian restaurant Nazims along the road was very good.

Well located, clean, very friendly staff, lots of smiles (always pays to smile first tho )
they "burnt" my laundry, but am sure that was not intended :) breakfast staff were not really into being up so early (but can you blame them )
well positioned location, clean and friendly.Front desk girls very helpful, even giving us an upgrade (low season of course). Easy walking distance to Palace and national Museum. Fabulous food market behind the hotel plus another bonus is the promenade along the mekong, great for early morning walks. Close to Metro cafe and right next door to the "new" Quay bar with rooftop views over mekong.
Shopping Tip : fabbo morning markets behind the hotel

Location, decent restaurant.
Bathroom had a mildewy odor. Not the friendliest staff.
I tend to stay in the "mid-range" hotel places, just above the "budget" category. This place ranks lowest of all the places I stayed in SE Asia. It was a little pricier than what it was. The room was fine, but I've been in better. Also, I worked with the hotel to get a hire a tuk-tuk driver for the day. I was greatly overcharged. If you work with the hotel staff, then definitely negotiate hard.

WIth Cafes, massage spas, palace, river, local market surrounding the hotel, the location of this hotel is so convenient.
However, It is not exactly a boutique hotel as the toilet was pretty basic and the chinese influenced decor was a little too much for me.

the location on the riverfront
it does really need a lift, there are a lot of stairs to climb if you are on level 3 or 4,ok if you are young.
this hotel is in a very handy location to all you need to see in downtown phnom penh.,especially the royal palace area and waterfront, only a few minutes walk from the central market .it has very nice rooms which are very clean, and a lovely old world restuarant where the breakfast is served.the staff are very nice and helpful.good for a traveller that likes a bit of comfort.
Travel tip : be very careful of young lady pick pocketers working in conjunction with crooked tuk tuk drivers at night on the riverfront road.

clean, helpful staff, good location
The hotel was clean and had a nice decor. The staff was nice and helpful. There is no elevator, but staff will carry your luggage to and from the room. They did not have computers available for use, but wi-fi was available in the rooms. The water in the shower never got warmed past tepid. The a/c cooled the room quickly. The breakfast was good and a variety of Western and Asian fare was available.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : This hotel is within walking distance of the National Museum and Palace, although the tuk tuk drivers will try to tell you different.
