good area for restaurants and browsing
This is an okay hotel. We had to ask for things that were advertised, like a kettle in the room so we could make tea, but the biggest disappointment was the pool being out of use, which is why we booked in the first place. To be fair, it was being refilled as we left! It's clean, comfortable but make sure you don't get a room with blocked in windows. Good value, nevertheless, for the discounted price we paid.
Hotel Feature Tip : It's a little shabby but clean. The staff are helpful, so if you need something, ask.

Good service. Clean. Breakfast was fair. Great location.
A little shabby but clean. The pool was not very good - not clean.
At first glance upon arriving at night, it looked pretty shabby - it clearly had seen better days. However in the morning, it seemed much better and while it was outdated, it was very clean and the staff was helpful and always available. I would stay there again - close to good restaurants and tuk tuks were always available to get around.
Restaurant Tip : There are a couple of really good restaurants just around the corner. One local cuisine and one with more western food.

This hotel offers large rooms with nice baths & full cable TV options for a good price. It has a nice rooftop swimming pool and a very nice view of the city from its top floor balcony. It is in a mellow part of town, near many restaurants, NGOs, and the Independence Monument, with relatively quiet streets. It is a older hotel, with many little nooks and crannies to have meetings or balconies to look out from outside one's room. Bed was very comfortable.
Service was not good. I asked 3 times for them to fix my reading light and it never happened. Business center internet is handy and easy, but expensive by internet cafe standards. Breakfast never varies, but is adequate. I would not recommend eating dinners there, but there are many close-by choices. If you crave tourist excitement, you want to be by the river, but it is being upgraded right now and much of the nice boulevard is closed off.
On my 10th visit to Phnom Penh, for work, I chose to stay off the Tonle Sap riverfront, the obvious choice to stay for western tourists. The beggars and touts and incessant noise had gotten tiresome. The Goldiana is an older "staid" hotel with large rooms, good prices and sits right in the middle of many NGOs, new restaurants of all types, Embassies, and expat housing (BKK district). It also has a rooftop pool, which I found appealing when staying two weeks in the heat. Most small hotels on the riverfront do not. You will see more expats and Cambodians, than tourists and backpackers in this neighborhood. A short tuk tuk ride will take you back to the riverside or to street 240 for more excitement. Prices are a little lower here than the riverfront. Don't expect glamour here, or good service, but the rooms are big and beds comfortable. It's quiet and mellow for walking around at night. Close enough to major tourist things, but few professional beggars and street children. I would stay here again, but I might bring my own bed reading light.
Hotel Feature Tip : Nice pool and great 6th floor balcony for watching the city turn to night while sipping a glass of wine.

Cheap, close to good restaurants and shops. Great rooms and service.
Starting to need a face lift.
Goldiana hotel is a great cheap option that is close to good restaurants and shops. Great rooms and service. The airport transfer that comes complimentary from the hotel is a great advantage. The rooms are spacious and clean with great amenities. the hotel pool is a great place to wind down after a big day of shopping.
Restaurant Tip : There are great restaurants near the hotel. You can try Khmer Surin, Amok, Living Room cafe and Malis.

I would recommend the Goldiana, but I think there are nicer hotels with nicer accomodations for the same price. If you are looking for the included breakfast and swimming pool, the Juliana is nicer and the breakfast is much better - made to order omelets, etc.

I didn't really like anything about the hotel...
The service was bad. A lot of personel is standing behind the counter and yet the service is slow and is often not given with a smile. The breakfast is not very fresh and you have to remind the staff to refill the plates, the juice etc. The room was not very clean. Half of the sockets did not work. Etc, etc. The hotel needs an update both in interior and staff training to be ok again.
Restaurant Tip : Khmer Surin, Amok and Khmer Kitchen are all nice restaurants located close to the hotel.

Great value for money. Close to lots of restaurants and a short ride to tourist attractions.
Restaurant Tip : Always check prices before sitting down at restaurants. Restaurants around the hotel had great food; both western and local.

Fabulous inexpensive restaurants in the area. Supermarket close by with reasonable prices. Walking distance to major attractions.
Restaurant Tip : Four great restaurants nearby: Nike's Pizza, Comme a la Maison, Khmer Surin, and Amok Cafe, all within 200 meters.

I wish I had more time to spend in Phnom Phen. I would stay at Goldiana again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : It is easy to get lost in Phnom Phen. Get a good map of the area. It took me a couple days to find out I was only 5 minutes walk away from a Independence Monument. There is a travel agency just around the corner from the hotel - and they were genuinely helpful, without trying to sell anything.

I liked the online chat. It was so helpful. It was almost the last minute that i confirmed with the hotel options and i didn't expect that i could confirm so quickly with on line staff of Agoda. She was patient, providing lots of information that i needed. Oh, the last but not the least thing is, the price here on this website is really competitive. Good website & service! I'll use the team again when i start my next trip!!! Thanks.
Restaurant Tip : There is only one restaurant which is at the corner of the hotel. Very good but only one. No other options. Btw, there is no wireless in that restaurant.
