One of the best designed hotels I have been to! The interiors are gorgeous and to die for. We took a triple suite that comes with a 2 bedroom with fully equipped kitchen and living room. The rooms and bathroom were spacious and maintained beautifully. They had a video library where we could rent movies and also some great books on design. At the restaurant, we mentioned to the chef we were vegetarians and he made us custom made Cambodian vegetarian food. The staff were very friendly and attentive as well. Overall, a great place to stay in Phnom Penh for families and couples!

Beautiful stay wish we could've stayed longer. The initial room we had smelt of sewer and the toilet didn't flush so we were upgraded to the amamzing Midight in Paris room. Made us feel like we were in New York or actual Paris with huge apartment. Great staff and free DVDs to hire, great hotel.

Travelling with friends (3 adults), we chose to stay in one of the largers rooms and have an additional bed installed. We stayed in "Shangai Gesture" room with features a large appartement style space (kitchen, big bathroom, living and dining area) making it a comfortable and large enough space for us. The staff was very friendly, smiling and willing to help. We felt at home and loved to return to this tranquille oasis after spending the day touring the city and surrounding. We had beautiful cocktails on the roof terrace as well as dinner one night. Food, wine and service were perfect. We would definitively recommend La Maison d'Ambre!

Great boutique hotel near waterfront
Great location with walking distance to the Central Market, modern shopping mall and the waterfront

We have stayed two nights in the La Maison D'Ambre Hotel and this was our first experience with Phnom Penh. We arrived on Christmas Eve and had our Christmas Eve dinner at the rooftop restaurant. They serve both French and local Khmer food to pretty high standards and we really enjoyed the food. Later I realized the restaurant, The Fifth Element, was actually mentioned on Phnom Penh's wikitravel page so it was a pleasant surprise.
The deco of the room is modern and stylish, adhering to standards of cities far more developed than Cambodia. The room is spacious and I really like the sofa area in the living room. Staff performance was excellent as everyone I have met were really warm and attentive to every small request we have made.
There are two minor downsides of the room we have stayed. Firstly there was a bit of smell in the bathroom and I guess that's why they have kept the fan running all the time. Secondly windows were not entirely sound proof so you could still hear noise of traffic when you try to sleep.
The location of the hotel is very close to shopping area (Central Market and Sorya Mall) and waterfront area with a lot of restaurants, pubs and spas. It is a bit further to the Royal Palace and the National Museum, but with Tuk Tuk nothing is more than 10 minutes away.
Overall it is a great hotel and I would recommend it to both leisure and business travelers.

An artificial concept of design & odd location
Rooms are set up like an apartment with a living space and kitchenette

I had a difficult time communicating with the staff. The guy I dealt with mostly would ramble on by giving me answers, but not to the questions asked. It's almost like he was running a script step by step. It was very frustrating. The decor of the entire hotel was tired and cheap. Imagine those cheap Chinese knockoffs and pretending that they are designer furniture. The situation might be different if the decor was tastefully done at a limited budget...it was far from it. Because I had to switch hotels at the last minute (see my review to the River View Hotel), I got a deal on Agoda for $100 USD a night. Let me remind you that this is Cambodia. $100 USD should go far, but this place clearly didn't meet up to the challenge. At best, I'd say the place is worth $40 USD.

Excellent service
Nicely themed room, very spacious, about 10 minutes walk to the riverside

Went with two friends, so three of us booked a deluxe apartment with an extra bed. Upon arrival there was a welcome ice blended fruit juice and they checked us in to "Midnight in Paris". Room was very comfortable and nicely decorated but there was abit of a musky smell which got ok after awhile. Showerhead was huge and worked excellent. At about 2-3am, we wanted to crawl into bed and found several tiny mites (looked like specks of dust that moved) on the double bed, around the pillows and spotted one or two by the sides near the bedframe, which we informed the reception. They offered a change of sheets but none of us dared to sleep on it, so we slept on the couches (it was really comfy though)and the extra bed which was a little hard. Next morning, we had breakfast on the rooftop, food is a little pricey and average tasting. As we were leaving the hotel, the staff offered us free tuk tuk ride to the killing fields, to the S-21 prison and back to the hotel. The manager came personally to apologise to us and gave us a choice to choose a new room "New York, New York" or a free upgrade to their two-bedroom apartment "Rose de Bokor". We chose Rose de Bokor because there were 3 of us. It was a beautiful moroccan themed room, sheets were clean and the bathtub was huge!! Overall, it was an enjoyable stay due to the hotel's excellent service and we would consider staying here again.

The room is exactly how it is in the photos! Very clean, extremely comfortable. Makes you want to stay in your hotel all day.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Book early & call the hotel to secure your preferred room. Remember to enjoy an evening drink at the rooftop bar too! No swimming pool.
