Angkor Star Hotel, Siem Reap

I stayed in two rooms. One room for four days and then the air conditioner (which had been working perfectly) lost its ability to cool the room. A technician came in the evening and tried to repair but could not so I was moved to another bigger room. This issue was handled swiftly and helpfully. Both rooms were attractive with a mixture of wood furniture and plaster (I guess) walls. The beds were large and comfortable. The bathroom included shower and tub and there was always hot water.

Overall, i had a nice, comfortable stay at Angkor Star Hotel. It started with the free transport from Siem Reap airport to the hotel on May 17 until departure on May 20, for which i am very much thankful for. The room was clean, spacious and thankfully, the view was nice, and the bathrooms, comfortable with hot and cold water. I can say other nice things about this hotel but I shouldn't forget the staff. All of them were very friendly and helpful to the guests, notwithstanding the language barrier. I will not forget how Poulen, the driver assigned to us on the first day, went all the way up to Phnom Bakheng to find us and bring us umbrellas when it rained so hard that afternoon. That was above and beyond, considering that the other drivers we saw did not bother to look for their guests who were rained on that late afternoon. The only downside in this hotel is its breakfast fare, which needs great improvement! I do not think it is fare to the guest to serve them exactly the same food for 3 days. I hope Angkor Star would improve their breakfast fare for their future guests and that its staff would remain as friendly and helpful as they are.
