the set up with the water ponds, all wooden houses, people friendly

the mattress were very bad, food ok, cocktail drinks bad, the electric contacts (for plugging inn) very dangerous and most of them did not eve work.

over all for the country the hotel is good, i would come back again to stay there.

Restaurant Tip : pub street has lots of restaurants, but the next small walk through street is much nicer and better restaurants, you have to try the barbeque suki opposite the amok restaurant.

wonderful villas in a wonderful garden; in walking distance to the city center

a bit pricey for Cambodia

I spent allone 5 wonderful days in this hotel; warm welcome, fast check-in, rooms butifully located in a tropical garden with flowers, palm trees, a pond and a swimming pool; the location is perfect as well for the visit to the Angkor temples as well to the city center; room is well furnished with all major items of a upper class hotel; sometimes noicy from music in a cutural center across the street

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Visit the smaller tempels at Angkor first before going to Angkor Wat and Bayon as you get a better overall impression. The two main attractions are full of tourists. Bantney Srei is worthwile though further away from Siem Reap.

Atmosphere.

Basic training of the staffs.

We were satisfied at this hotel comparatively. However the staff training is poor. Do not be dazzled the fine atmosphere !

Good place. The dinner-show was good too and the theatre is within the premises.

There are lots of hotels in Siem Reap. Don't worry, you can find one even if they are all booked here.

Pretty in principle but not in practice Guest Rating: 6.7

Angkor Village Hotel is lovely but at over $100 per night they should be able to provide both fluent English speakers and hot water 24x7. Even simple questions, like a late check-out, required three people and several answers of no before they allowed a delay of one-hour. I expected an up-sell when asking for hotel assistance in arranging a tour of Angkor (tuk-tuk drivers outside the door of the hotel charge less than half the price for all-day assistance), but was disappointed to be charged 3 times the going rate for airport transfers (it's only about 10K). The worst thing was trying to shower before departure (long flight back to US) and finding no water. I had to use water in the decorative flower pot to rinse-off. My adamant complaint was met with smiles and apologies. Either they did not understand what I was saying or pretended they did not.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Don't bother with the Floating Village. It costs as much as Angkor Wat and can be seen in about 30 minutes. One gets to see poor Vietnamese begging from tourists. It would seem that few villagers see any of the money the tourists are paying in admission. Sort of like visiting a Favela in Rio but at least in the Favela the tour was not the primary source of income for the inhabitants. The only culture at the Floating Village is tourism.
