friendly staff, eager to help. lots of tv channels
air conditioning inadequate, cleanliness at the restaurant should be improved and boring same old breakfast daily.
Restaurant Tip : enjoy an excellent western dinner at the red piano, at town centre.

Beautiful decor, feels really old world, gorgeous pool/garden area.
Within easy reach of centre of town, no more than 3 dollars (for two) in a tuck tuck, drivers will wait for you or pick you up at a pre-arranged time.
Food and drink prices do not encourage you to stay in the hotel, much cheaper in centre of town.
I had no idea what to expect before we arrived at this hotel except that dictated by the numbers of stars it had been awarded. We were quite delighted with the look of the hotel, old world feel, lots of natural wood. Very spacious reception and very accommodating staff. The room was large, very clean and comfortable, the bathroom was equally clean and well catered. The room overlooked the pool/gardens which were lush and lovely. The breakfast was sufficiently varied and catered to lots of tastes. We did not eat at the hotel except for breakfast, because it seemed more fun going into to the centre of town. However, we did order drinks one night before going out and found them to be very expensive. If they lowered their prices I think that they would do a lot more business in that area. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed staying there and found the people very friendly and helpful.
Nightlife Tip : Blue Pumpkin serves the best shakes in town.
Giddy Gecko serves the best sheeshas in town.
So many good restaurants in and around Bar Street it's hard to say which is the best.

Great rooms, helpfull staff, good price
For its price, hotel has impressive rooms and very polite staff. Only the food at breakfast was not changing for 3 days. Getting around is easy, because everything is near. Hotel offers taxi and guide services too. Totally recommend this hotel, even despite food.
Hotel Feature Tip : Pool is great after hot day

Kind, wonderful and smiling reception staff. Big pool, wonderful surroundings, quiet, excellent choice of breakfast, highly recommended and would stay there again.
Don't pay 3USD for tuk tuk to city, 2 is accetable. :) Hotel is 10 minutes outside the bustle of the city, if you consider that a weakness. I consider it a plus, and the town is small enough that it becomes a bonus.
One of the best hotels I have stayed in, and I have staid in many good hotels. Wonderful staff and exceptionally well looked after grounds, large but not busy pool. Did not have time to check gym and spa, but would highly recommend this hotel and definitely will be back!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Angkor is very close by - take a three day pass if you can and air-con taxi all day for USD25.

This is a nice western style hotel. They have excellent response time - emailed them two months prior to trip and they responded the next day. They were waiting at the airport even though our flight was late and in the middle of the night. Staff was very attentive and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. They arranged sightseeing trips for us that were designed to fit our needs. (traveling with a 3 year old and 5 year old)
The hotel was a little far from town. When it says on their website that a baby cot is available free of charge. It means baby basinet not baby cot. Our children put their baby dolls in it.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Opt for the individual english (french, japanese, or chinese) tour. It is well worth the $25 and $28 for the car with driver.

Furniture, nice reception, good swimming pool, decorations near the swimming pool
Staff could be sometimes too willing to serve so, so that looks not sincere. Swimming pool is very nice. Prices are too high in the restaurant and nearby places, so check the Mango cafe (on the opposite side of the road, have a little walk)
Restaurant Tip : Mango Cafe nearby have rather reasonable prices (for example Butterfly restaurant also nearby have just insane prices). Also check-out the Coffee-shop nearby - great ice-cream, sweeties there

The hotel is styled in traditional architecture and rooms are well equipped. Staff are very friendly and helpful at all hours of day or night.
The lobby entrance is a bit touristy.
This is a large scale hotel along the tourist strip on the main road into Siem Reap. It has a tranquil pool and pleasant and quiet rooms that are spacious and well equipped. Don't plan spending too much time there unless you are staying for four or more days though!
Nightlife Tip : Tuk tuks are USD1 anywhere about town - so don't pay USD3 as often quoted by drivers!

Great room with bath! Breakfast is very large and lovely to take on the patio outside. Pool is nice in the sun.
Out of town, tuk tuk's are a bit expensive $3, hotel facilities are under renovation. No room service.
We had a corner room on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the pool and enjoyed it very much for our three days. Arrived in the afternoon to Siam Reap and spent the rest of the day in the hotel until evening which was lovely and relaxing after the boat ride from Phnom Phen.
Breakfast is from 7am -9.30 (which starts a little bit late for making the sunrise at Angkor Wat - and ends a little early for a sleep in the day after!) is worthwhile, Western and Asian selections. And they have instant coffee which we thought is better than the brewed stuff, just ask.
The hotel sauna and steam room are under renovation, should be done by March 2009 I think. Would be nice to use after swimming in the pool. The massage services are a bit pricey compared to town, as is the menu (no room service) but still tastes good. Some of the staff at the hotel speak English and some do not, it can be interesting!
Tours can be arranged at the desk, but we were hassled into going with the tuk tuk driver that brought us from the boat to the hotel, which we realised is very common. Still going around the Wat's by tuk tuk was nice, as you can enjoy the passing scenery more than if you were in a car. (the hotel has no bicycles but I have also heard electric ones are available in town and worthwhile for one of your days exploring).
The city itself is nice, and also worth exploring in the day, and of course for dinner and the night markets - the best night markets we found in Cambodia for silks, scarves and other souvenirs. Bargain well!
Hotel Feature Tip : Can get the tuk tuks down to $1 if you are hard, $2 easily and $3 starting price if you are tired. It's on the airport road and would be convenient if you are flying in and have limited time for in which to see the temples.

good facilities, big rooms, helpful and polite staff, big swimming pool.
not in the city center (about 2 km away), breakfast can be better.
this is a good hotel, with very good facilities (a big swimming pool, gym, spa etc). the rooms are very clean and big with Cambodian style. the staff is very nice and polite. the restaurant provides good food, though the breakfast can be better. however, if you want to go to exactly the downtown area e.g. pub street, center market etc. you must take tuktuk which costs about US1 / way. it is also quite far away from the coach station.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : need to arrange a tuk tuk for the whole day (for me, 3 days) visit to angkok wat. if you come by coach, you also need transportation from the station to the hotel. always remember to bargain with things which prices are not set (e.g. clothes in souvenir shop, tuk tuk..)

nearer to town, convenient
Hotel looks & design are average, service so so & breakfast is also average. Nothing outstanding. Hotel charge breakfast US$5 more for children below 12. Rooms are comfortable but old.
Shopping Tip : Nice swimming pool, but small. Next to the hotel has several small little shops

The hotel is pleasant, spacious and pretty clean. Breakfast is dull but there is plenty of food.
The hotel is out of the way and far from the center of town, but a tuk tuk will take you there for no more than $2
We enjoyed staying at the Apsara Angkor hotel, although it was away from the center of things. If I had to do it over, I would try to get a hotel near the Le Grand Cafe in the middle, where things are happening. As it turned out, the distance was not too bad, since our driver picked us up from the hotel every morning.
Restaurant Tip : Chicken cashew nut is great at the Le Grand Cafe in the middle of town

At first I thought I would have preferred the hotel to be closer to the city. This wasnt necessary, was probably quieter, and was very inexpensive getting into the town by the moto-cyclos
Shopping Tip : night market better than the regular market as far as price

Not much to add to previous comments, would definitely stay here again on a second trip to Siem Riep. I preferred to stay outside the Old Market area, where the dining options are far better but the overall environment noisier.
