City River Hotel, Siem Reap

I stayed at the hotel during the Water Festival celebration. As the hotel is located next to the river, the noise coming from the hotel was quite bad. The techno music would be on till past 2am, and I had to wake up at 5am to go Angkor Wat for sunrise. If you are a light sleeper like me, please know that the celebration on the streets outside the hotel goes on till past midnight for 2 nights, and include fireworks.Despite these, the hotel is conveniently located near old market, pub street, and even central market. You could walk to these places if you do not mind the sun. The breakfast is good. Asian dishes include Congee, fried noodle, fried rice. Western selection has various bread spread, eggs, bacon, ham and cereal. Local fruits like dragon fruits, papaya,and bananas are plenty. If you are visiting Angkor Wat for sunrise at 5.30am, the hotel is kind enough to pack your breakfast in a bag. That includes sandwich made of 3 slices of toast, bacon, ham, egg, cucumber, onions, tomatoe, and lettuce. Half of it is already very sufficient. You can keep the other half as snack before lunch. The breakfast bag also include a bottle of water, and some bananas.

Hotel is walking distance to town center (10 min). Basic simple hotel rate it 2-3 star. Would recommend it to friends because quiet place and very hear to nice restaurants and a few pubs. Also walking distance to buffet dinner with Apsara dance show. Clean and very helpful staff. They can help organize tours and ensure that price is good and you won't be cheated by guide if go through hotel. Also get cheaper price for buffet dinner if purchase through hotel. Have pick-up (free) from airport but need to pay for return to airport. I feel hotel should include this in their package for convenience.
