great location. beautiful restoration
Beautiful hotel. Old world and nicely restored. Good location in the city so it is easy to see the sites and then return periodically to the hotel. Pool is a pleasure to return to after a hot day. Staff in particular is comparable to any I have experienced in the world and that includes the peninsula in honk Kong and the Oriental in Bangkok.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Tour office is across the street. Easy to reserve a guide adn car to see the sites.

The staff were exceptional, great English, helpful, imformative, very pleasant.Great atmosphere, cool and welcoming. Breakfast excellent. Even 3 children comfortable, enjoyed pool.
Hard to find fault with anything. Maybe food a little expensive, but comparable to this quality of hotel anywhere else in the world
I would recommend this hotel to people who appreciate elegance and old world character. Calm and serene without being stuffy. Pool, gym and spa excellent. Concierge and reception very helpful.Every lunchtime,we looked forward to returning to the relaxed cool atmosphere. Never felt crowded or part of a tourist herd.Lots of space outdoors, pool a great temperature, even I went in. Nice change from 'commercial' hotels.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : We found there were many more things to do and see in Siem Reap. There for 2 and 1/2 days of sightseeing. Could easily fill 4 days. Incredible place, would love to go back. do take the kids,we have 8,10 and 13 year old boys, they enjoyed it. Have to break the day up,3 hours am,3 hours pm.

Great location, pristine, spacious rooms, complete bathroom amenities. Cafe d'Angkor (for breakfast) was outstanding. Service with a smile all throughout. Raffles is known for its old world charm, ie, very colonial vibe, and this one is no exception. If you wish to re-live days gone by in style, this is the place.
Hard to come up with negative things, but the one thing we talked about with the hotel is the "towel" issue. They replaced our bath towels after each shower, even if we hung our towels on the racks. It was wonderful to use fresh towels each time, but on the hottest day of our trip, we showered 4 times that day and our towels were replaced 4 times! Luxury, sure, but not very environmentally friendly.
Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor provided such a cooling respite from the insane April heat (peak of 40 degrees during our 4 day stay)- from the refreshing cold towels, to the wonderful welcome juice drink, to the comfortable lounge chairs with a sweeping view of the massive hotel pool and grounds, and the spacious rooms with their own private balconies, this grand old lady charmed us to no end.
The staff greeted us warmly each time they saw us, calling us by our names (we would take mini breaks from our temple tours to shower and freshen up at the hotel and each time they would inquire how our trip went, ask if we need anything) and making us feel like we were returning home each time.
The breakfast buffet was phenomenal - an amazing, top quality spread that has something for everyone; the best eggs benedict made upon request, a super pancake/waffle/eggs station, the crispiest bacon we've ever had anywhere, plenty of delicious bakery items, fresh juices, a modest but very good selection of "spa cuisine" items, cold cuts, Asian noodles and porridge, cheeses, fresh fruits and cereals... and oh, champagne!
Elephant bar was a cozy spot in the basement of the hotel, with a pool table off to one side. It is far from trendy, but the friendly and accommodating bar staff made up for it. It became our meeting place before we went out for our evening meals as the cocktails were expertly prepared.
Concierge service was very good, service throughout the hotel was excellent, and every need was anticipated and met even before we knew we wanted it. We were spoiled!
Airport pick-up was prompt, and the cold water bottles were most welcome. The hotel shops had amazing products on sale, and if you don't like haggling in the old market, pick up your souvenir items from the gift shop (the pepper cookies were delicious and the silver, scarves and spices were all wonderfully received presents). Lotus Arts de Vivre sold jewelry and high-end handcrafted products.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The hotel will happily book your tour guide (our local guide Tim was excellent!)and vehicle of choice (we booked a car on the first day, tuk-tuks the next, a van for an out-of-Angkor day trip and the trip back to the airport). Everything seemed to be close to the hotel so going around town, tuk-tuk's the best and most fun mode of transport.
Visiting an orphanage might be something you may want to do and can be easily arranged through the concierge (although we suggest you donate basic necessities instead of school supplies, stuff like soap, toothpaste, etc). Our visit to the local orphanage for about an hour made our trip to Siem Reap more meaningful.
