Royal Angkor Resort, Siem Reap

After my previous stays in Singapore and Indonesia, I found the Royal Angkor Resort (RAR) in Siem Reap a pleasant surprise. I was greetted at the airport by a rep from the hotel with a sign bearing my name. I felt a little strange when I was led to Toyota Camry with a driver inside instead of a marked van from the hotel. Anyway, the transport from to the hotel was smooth. The people at the hotel were nice and very polite. The front desk upgraded my room to a bigger one with a king size bed without charge which was great eventhough I didn't need. The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. I checked out all the items in the room, everything worked. I found the plugs from my camera and i phone chargers worked fine with receptacles on the walls, and there were many of them around. The safe was large enough for all my important stuff including my big camera. The breakfast room was not too big but I never saw too many people in the room during the five days that I was there. There were a great variety of foods so I m sure you can have what you prefer. If you sit by the windows you can have a great view of the back yard and the huge pool. The Temple Cafe is a good place for lunch but it's a little pricy. Overall I like the hotel and nothing bad to say about it. Compared to those in Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore this could be a great deal.

We had an excellent time at this hotel. We stayed in mid-August which is low season so it was very quiet and peaceful. We often had the amazing huge pool to ourselves. The spa prices were great, and were even further discounted during our stay so we took full advantage of this. Although the hotel is not in town, it is still very convenient to the restaurants and shops in town and the Angkor temples. We ate at the hotel restaurant for lunch every day and recommend it (excellent fish). All service at the hotel, including airport pickup and transfers to town, were excellent. I would definitely stay here again!
