Awesome Family Hotel

Staff was extremely helpful, attentive and the location is great
9.3
We stayed at this family-owned guest house for 6 nights and had a wonderful experience. Mr. SamSo took care of all of our needs and made sure that we were always comfortable. He was truly amazing, and his family likewise. Thanks to them, we had a successful visit to all the temples in the area and we had a good time. They also organized a tuktuk trip for us for the lowest possible price and a bus to take us back to HCMC. Thank you for the wonderful stay!

Very good place to stay

Great location, bikes to rent, wonderful staff
9.3
Sam So and his wife are wonderful hosts. The breakfast-staff is lovely! We liked the bike rental. The rooms are nice with stucco decoration. This place is good value for money. Due to a construction side next door it was a little noisy in the morning. We were allowed to change the room to the other side. We would return! Definitely!

Overall a nice hotel

Friendly staff, good price, breakfast included, access to internet (not just wi-fi)

When we arrived at the hotel, we were disappointed to find that the staff could not find our Agoda booking. This was quickly resolved, though, and we were allocated a room on the ground floor. The room was damp and the ceiling was dirty (mouldy) and the bathroom was far from spotless. We asked to change rooms and were quickly moved to a far airier and cleaner second floor room. The disadvantage of this was it was a triple room so we had to move after spending one night - not ideal when you're up early to go sight-seeing. In our final room we had a couple of problems with the toilet which were seen to immediately but recurrent. The breakfast was a welcome addition and at $10/night it's a great deal. Overall, we were happy with our stay but weren't bowled over in spite of the charming staff.

Great place to meet fellow travellers

Nice owners, good location and friendly atmosphere

Agoda screwed up our booking so when we arrived at the guesthouse they didn't know we were coming. Luckily there was a room available and to our surprise we got a room straight away even tho we arrived at 9am which was great after our early morning flight from KL. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We organized our tuk-tuks to the temples and bus to Battambang with them which was very hassle free. Our room was clean and large with good aircon but could of done with a little fridge and a kettle to make a cuppa. Also our window faced a wall so try asking for a room on a higher floor with a view. The breakfast is very simple (toast, egg, jam, butter and fruit) but at least there is one We really enjoyed the area as the central part is just too loud sometimes. Only 10 mins walk to Pub street.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: The guesthouse can organize tuk-tuk drivers for $15 for small circuit, $20 for big circuit and $12 for Roluos group (or there is hundreds of them on the streets for similar price).

Best value for money

Clean rooms, great service, nice breakfast

The best hotel we stayed for that price. Great staff and service, clean and spacious room. Not too far from pub street as i read about, only 1 dolar tuktuk.

Nothing but praise

Everything!!!

You couldn't find a friendlier group of hosts! The breakfast included far exceeded my initial thoughts. There's very little to say negative things about this guesthouse. But if I had to choose, it would be the sunflower yellow paint that covered our entire room. So only petty unimportant details. The family who runs this guesthouse makes you feel as one of the inlaws. Highly recommended
Shopping Tip: Don't haggle for a cheaper price for a tuk tuk ride to the temples (unless he isn't friendly). Competition between drivers for your business is fierce. It almost seems drivers outnumber tourists and they can go days without business. Generosity can go a far way to a man who averages $3 a day.

Great staff and location

Good sized room

We got a free pick up from the bus station as arranged with the hotel, which was great. Within minutes of arriving, we were able to arrange tuktuk hire for the next day to allow us to see the Angkor temples which was very reassuring. Breakfast was basic, 1 fried egg, 2 slices of toast, a tiny bit of butter, jam and half a small banana, which left us feeling a little more fruit would have been nice. The wifi was intermittant, but it mostly worked in the lobby and breakfast area. The room was a nice size, but after staying for 3 nights, despite the cleaner coming in to make the beds, the bathroom was never cleaned, the bin wasn't emptied and the bathroom drain for the shower was very dirty. Also, guests were allowed to smoke during breakfast which wasn't very nice when you're trying to eat.

Good cheap guesthouse

Staff are friendly and helpful

Excellent location, only a 10 minute stroll to pub street. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are basic and bathroom is a wet room, but for the price you really cannot complain especially as breakfast is included (fried egg, toast and fruit plus tea/coffee/water). Good base from which to explore SR. They also rent bicycles for $1 day and do your laundry for $1/kg
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Rent a bike and cycle to Angkor Wat, this is by far the cheapest way to get around and is good fun
