The Spa, position, graciousness, hotel training school for Cambodian village teenagers who were all so self effacing and keen to do the right thing. Organises aid for Cambodian people. generous supplies of water and fruit every day. Food lovely.
Lady manager not all together helpful at times. Felt certain requests were a bit of an effort at times.
A lovely hotel in the heart of Siem Reap, staff lovely and really a charming positive place to stay. Only small and intimate. The spa gave me the best hot stone massage I had ever had and facial as after 3 days of cycling aroung Cambodia in the heat and humidity I really needed it, it ironed out all the aches and pains. The room was lovely and little touches like flowers and fruit and nice soaps and oils made it quite special. The only negative was the lady manager didnt seem to accomodate our requests very well. Said she could change a flight for us that other hotels along the way had done very easily. She said there had been a 2 day holiday in Vietnam so no one was answering there phone and when we got to Vietnam we fouhd this not to be true. Another thing was we were on a cycling tour and left the hotel every day at 0800 and on the last day we would be back by 1400 to pack up and go to the airport by 1700. We asked if we could have a late check out so we would shower before we left but she said no as the hotel was full and she needed the room so we had to pack up and be out of the room by 0800 and leave our baggage in the storeroom and have a shower in the Spa when we got back. If they had been full I wouldnt have minded but it certainly wasnt full when we were there and according to someone who will remain nameless it wasnt full then. Just annoyed me a bit. All the other staff were divine. The aid program seemed impressive but one of the taxi drivers said it was a ploy to get the tourists. Hope not as the country needs all the aid it can get.
Nightlife Tip : Pop around the courner and have a cocktail at the FCC Club a bar and restaurant where the foreign correspondents used to need during the war. Also lovely art gallery just up the road which sells great art. Also lovely restaurant across the river called Vithroths.

Good location. Nice spacious room. Friendly staff and good atmosphere.
There was nothing really that I disliked. If I was being picky the breakfast could have been better (particularly if you are a vegetarian).
We received cold face towels when we arrived and an authentic Cambodian scarf. The room was spacious and we each had a double bed. The air con worked well (although a little noisy). There is a nice pool. We didn't use the spa or eat dinner in the restaurant, so no feedback on that. On the whole, a nice hotel with good atmosphere and helpful friendly staff, good sized rooms, with nice bathroom products.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Happy Feet give a great foot massage. One of the better ones in Cambodia.

I believe this is a training/sister hotel to Hotel de la Paix (where I have also stayed)also in Siem Reap...for a fraction of the cost. Very comfortable, good decor, everything worked in the room.
Shinta Mani is actually quite central, but being off dirt roads it seems miles from anything. Once you stay for a few days even the directionally challenged such as myself can walk to shops and markets. The grounds are nothing much - no gardens.
I really liked Shinta Mani. Rooms were not as posh as Hotel de la Paix but were nevertheless quite comfortable with all amenities. Front desk staff were a bit distracted at times but always friendly. The spa was just ok - I'd go to one of the excellent in-town spas. For those with internet needs it's not available in-room but there is free internet in the common area upstairs.
