Proximity to subway station Proximity to Food Street Friendly and helpful staff Traditional feel of building and neighborhood

Shower gets all of bathroom wet Bathroom smells when wet

We booked a honeymoon room at a discounted rate through Agoda. The Agoda price was appropriate for the quality level of this hotel. The posted rate at the hotel would have been too much. The room was small and spartan by American hotel standards, but it provided a good place to sleep. It was not a room to lounge in and spend long hours. The bed was comfortable and the bedding was clean. Our room was made up everyday and two bottles of water were provided each day. The bathroom was the only issue we had, as the shower is not contained and it is located between the sink and the toilet. The shower gets everything wet. The bathroom smelled a bit of the sewer when it was wet but was better when dry. The staff is very helpful and friendly. They directed us to a particular restaurant on the nearby Food Street and even helped us hail a cab when it was time to go. Breakfast was the same each day, but it was a good start for the day. It included an egg, two pieces of toast with butter and jam, two cherry tomatoes, a couple of slices of cucumber and sausage, and tea. In all, we enjoyed our time here. It was nice to get off the beaten path and see a neighborhood in Beijing. The location is great with the subway a two minute walk and Food Street a five minute walk.

Restaurant Tip : Don't miss the restaurants on Food Street. We enjoyed the hot pot at Little Sheep and several others.

Near metro & restaurants

Cleaness

This Hutong hotel is the best we visited in Beijing. It is really quiet place and the people are really helpful. We were at 20 meters from the metro and it was easy to go every where you want to go. Near many restaurant that the people from Beijing like to go. We were close of the Conficius Palace an Lamas Temple.

Restaurant Tip : Near a lot of restaurants

Well located by underground station. Quiet and quite charming garden. Staff also pleasant and helpful.

Suite over priced. Breakfast not so great and without choice. Not so clean. Tour offered included lots of unwanted factory visits. Seemed a bit short of 3 star.

We booked a standard room but upgraded to a suite as room too small. We could have got a 3-4 star room for a similar price with a better standard of cleanliness and breakfast for the price of the suite. We booked a tour through their front desk to the Great Wall at Mutianyu but weren't able to stay long as we were rushed off to a series of factory visits we didn't want. Breakfast was always the same without a choice, and we didn't feel our room was kept adequately clean. Quite charming setting though and incredably convenient to the subway.

Restaurant Tip : The near by restaurant street is great.

Very close to subway station; small; friendly staff.

Overpriced for very basic rooms

Cute, in a basic sort of way. Nice friendly staff but I wouldn't recommend this place. The rooms were small and spartan. We had to change our room because the bathroom smelt like a sewer. The garden was a great place if you like mosquitoes. The breakfasts were simple in the extreme and monotonous. If arriving by subway at night you might be inclined to turn around and get back on the train. The alleyways are dark with no street lighting so it is easy to miss the place

Friendly helpful staff, full of Hutong character, very comfortable bed, less than a minute from the metro station. Rooftop tables. The coffee is very good.

Breakfast needs some variation!! The coffee is not included in the price of breakfast.

I have stayed here before. I was charmed by the atmosphere then and I was charmed this time. The staff recognised me and were very welcoming and friendly. I had a room that opens directly onto the courtyard with a small bathroom window onto the street. The discount room price included breakfast, free wireless internet and free local calls to landlines and Beijing mobiles. There are two shared computers if you don't have your own. Hutong character comes with the street vendors and collectors calling their business each morning. It's plain and simple but I will definitely come here again.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Direct metro to Tiantan and the foreigners markets (where you have to bargain down to about 90% off the discount price).

Friendly, clean hotel with lovely quiet courtyard and rooftop terrace. Excellent location 2 mins walk from Beixinqiao subway station (Exit C)

Cost of coffee

Excellent courtyard hotel in a very convenient location, close to subway and just round the corner from 'ghost street' with lots of restaurants. Walking distance from Lama Temple. Everyone very friendly and helpful-good English spoken, free internet, cheap beer and a good breakfast. Rooms smallish but adequate and the comfiest beds in China! Very quiet, suited us but if you are looking for a party hotel this may not be the one! Great to come back at the end of a long day and sit in the courtyard with a cold beer/coffee.

Travel tip : Make a note of the subway details. If we had known how close it was to the subway we would not have bothered trying to get a taxi! Line 5 Beixinqiao subway station (Exit C), turn left out of the station 1st right and you're there!

Well situated near the underground station. Internet free.

It is not what it seems. The rooms are small and the bathroom terrible. It is not very clean.

I didn't like it at all. It is indeed in a Hutong but it is not a 3 star at all. The rooms are very small and the bathroom is not at all good. We stayed 4 nights and they changed the towels only after 3 days!!!The breakfast included is very basic and if you want coffee intead of tea: you must pay!

very close to the metro station and to the Lama Temple, typical place in the middle of the hutong area Guesthouse speaks good English Accomodation and Clim are really satisfactory

US breakfeast can be improved Rooms could be a little bit more personalized / traditional

This guesthouse is located in the Hutong area very close to the line 5 Metro station. Although a hundred meter far from the Metro C exit, it's a little bit hard to find as there are no indication in the street the the hotel is there. It's a traditional house with the garden in the middle of the house and rooms around the patio. Guests can have a drink or take their breakfeast in the patio. In the main room, free internet for the guests. Rooms Accomodation is really in line with expectations: clean, good clim, hot water, etc.... Decoration might be a little bit more sophisticated. US breakfeast that can be improved.Price is Ok with the discount otherwise could be seen as too high.

Nightlife Tip : in a parallel street, you can find lot of chineese typical restaurants.

Courtyard garden Authentic furniture and style

Not the last word in luxury Bathroom shower arrangement can flood the bedroom

Good friendly service, concierge was available to procure tickets. Courtyard was lovely, real suntrap, perfect with a cold chingdao. Room was a good size, air con and a big, comfortable authentic chinese bed that dominates the room. The bathroom had nice fixtures but the provision of a shower that waasn't enclosed meant we couldn't store anything in the bathroom and that water could flow into the bedroom. Breakfast was included but isn't substantial compared to western standards but the famous guijie food street is only 5 mins away by foot. This place is cramed with restaurants so food is never far away.

Restaurant Tip : the aforementioned guijie street. The subway station is even closer and this will take you anywhere you want to go for 20p each (except summer palace and the wall which are off the network.( taxis are needed, for the wall it is best to higher a car for the day and also visit the ming tombs)

Very good service from the people in the reception and in the kitchen. A beautiful bed A quiet and beautiful garden.

The bathroom went very wet during showering. Compared to other hotels in China was it a expensive hotel.

We found the Hotel at the Internet, and choosed it because it was in a Hutong and was close to the Railway station.

- free wireless and fast internet connection in the rooms - helpfull staff that spends time for the limited amount of customers - included breakfast - can direct to other agencies for guided tours, sighseeing, etc.

- took a while to find the hotel - takes a few hundred meter of walking with your luggage if you arrive at the wrong end of the alley. If you arrive from the right side the taxi is allowed to enter the alley and you can just make a quick stop in front of the hotel.

An amazing lady helped me around. First I could have a shower after which we would deal with checking in. Very thoughtfull. The rates of the rooms have a breakfast included worth about 10 euro. Coffees in the guesthouse are very affordable. As I was about to pick up some people with luggage the lady directed me to a taxi driver.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : A famous place called 'the Drumtower' is not far located from the hotel (but far enough to not be bothered with the drums :)]

Soft Mattress. With so few rooms you get to meet Fellow travelers. So close to subway 5.

No T>V> or Electric jug in the room.

Not a fancy hotel but on of the few you can truly relax in the company of travelers from all over the world. Local restaurants and fruit outlets within 5 min's.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Amoung the Hutons & one minute from subway line 5 down to Temple of Heaven.

it's quite modern and has everything you would like. they offer free internet (wifi or 2 computers) breakfast the staff will help you out with anything. very conveniently located

no entertainment in your room, it is very strange to sit in a quiet room. be prepared to speak the name of the area in very great chinese or have it written down :) taxis can't find hutongs at all!

we first arrived late at night but the staff waited for us to arrive and they checked us in with very little pain or stress. 4banqiao is a very good break from always staying in hotels and it's in a great location, it's very close to the Lama Temple, Gujie food street (it's very cool) and is very nicely located next to a train station (around 100m walk?) everyone says hello to you in the courtyard its very good. so if you don't want to stay in your typical hotel and are looking for a more down to earth experience try out the 4 banqiao, i had no issues!

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : take a greatwall tour through Juns tours, they take you to a part of the wall that nobody else goes to http://www.hellogreatwall.cn/.
