Well appointed
Close to CBD subway
Value for money
Staff excellent
Some internal Restaurants closed
For a family of 5 the 3 bedroom suite was the perfect base for a visit to Beijing. The apartment was very well appointed and had all the luxuries of an international hotel. The staff spoke English and the Breakfasts were a western style buffet with local options. Close to the subway and in the CBD you are a short subway ride from the Tiannamen Square area and walking distance to the Silk Street Markets. I will look to use the Ascott chain of Hotels in other countries as well.

Two bedroom room was quite spacious, clean and comfortable. Good for a family on vacation.
Taxi drivers not aware of hotel's location despite its long existence. Had to refer them to the nearby subway station.
My family and I had an enjoyable stay at the Ascott Beijing. We stayed 4 nights in early August. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Housekeeping was very efficient. We enjoyed relaxing in the living room after a long day of visiting the historical sites in and around Beijing. The employees were very friendly and helpful. Though I do not speak Mandarin, they found a colleague that would be able to communicate with me in English. I agree with the other reviewers in that there is a smell in the hallway. Also, taxi drivers just do not know how to find this place, had to inform them re: the nearby subway station. Will definitely stay at this hotel again.

Very comfortable and modern
Well equipped kitchen & living areas
Value for money
Badly leaking 2nd bath
Leaking kitchen sink
No mirrors in 2nd/3rd bedrooms
No replenishment for coffee/tea
We were a group of 15 pax. We took 3 3-bedroom apts and overall we had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. Apartments were very spacious will well equipped kitchen/laundry/common areas. Only 1 of the apartments had the badly leaking 2nd bath. Otherwise, our stay was great. Breakfast was just ok and nothing to shout about.

NO AIRCON!!! Furniture, carpets a bit worn
With a lot of positive reviews here and elsewhere, I thought this would be a good place to stay for a week on business. It is okay. Has a Starbucks and Subway on the ground level. Hotel is off the main street. BIG PROBLEM IS THAT THERE WAS NO AIR CONDITIONING AND IT WAS HOT! I was on a high floor with afternoon sun. Hotel is on cetnralized/city aircon and heat supply - - not an independent system like brand, western hotels. If I could have cancelled, (NOT PREPAID) I would have changed hotels, but you got me this time. Wont stay there again.
Travel tip : Starbucks downstairs, but hard to find.... Ask and MAYBE you can get clear directions.

Fully equipped kitchen and laundry. Spacious living/dining area. Convenient location - 10 minute walk to the Guo Mao subway and bus station
While the housekeepers were polite and seemed earnest, the service was not up to par with what I had expected. The part of our apartment was left unclean one day. The towels and amenities (shower gel, bathroom glasses, toilet papers, and so on) were not enough; we only had four sets of towels for six people and had to keep asking for more during the first 2,3 days, for example. But those were not a big deal for us anyway.
I think the Ascott is one of the best options for a family or larger group. Well-situated for our need; currency exchange at the desk, mini-market/Citibank ATM/massage shop on the premises, good Chinese restaurant just across the street, 2 minute walk to a 7-11 convenient store, and about 15 minute walk to a Wal-mart. Just keep in mind that this is a serviced apartment mainly for long-stay expats, not really a hotel.

Good location, nice and comfortable rooms, friendly staff
Lousy breakfast (waste of money) far away from the normal Ascott standard, like a Chinese 2 star Hotel.
Aircon works bad and could not be fixed properly. Toilet papers only new after asking for. Little things but for Ascott unnecessary
As we stay only in the night and travel all day around it was acceptable and the rooms are realy nice but compare to Ascott Kuala Lumpur or Singapore the standart, especially breakfast, is a disaster. Service and maintenance needs to be improved and never book including breakfast.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Short taxi ride to Forbidden city and Tiananmen square, Silk marked in walking distance. For sightseeing perfect

spacious, fully appointed kitchen, large living room
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ascott. It made sense to us to enjoy the extra space an apartment afforded as we were travelling with another couple. Actually less expensive than two bedrooms in a three or four star hotel. There is also a convenience store, spa, and hair dresser within the building.

Large suite size and very modern. Very comfortable. Great location in the Central Business District and close to subway
The Ascott Beijing was fantastic. The apartments were spacious and very modern. It even had a combination washer/dryer. The breakfast buffet was good and a nice combination of western and chinese. The location was fabulous. Very close to the subway and also to the China World Trade Center and shopping malls. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The only drawback was that the beds were hard.
Shopping Tip : THere was a Wal-Mart a few blocks away that had many international products

Well situated. Spacious and clean place. I enjoyed the surprise of upgrading to a 2 Bedroom instead of the reserved 1 Bed room apartment. Amenties are excellent.
Shower and plumping need to be well inspected shower plumping need to be inspected/repaired before any guest moves in.
bereakfast is fine, but i will like to enjoy more western chices to the menu.
Generaly, it has good value for the price (in western standards) since I have not been to so many places in china to compare. I will stay in the place again.

Location from Fuhijing road (downtown) is not far from hotel. Subway station is near by hotel.
Ascott is not well known to taxi driver, not easy to find.
Hotel is not far from downtown and sightseeing place, and located at calm area. There are 2 rooms & 1 living room, it likes better than suit room of other 5 stars hotel. And daily cleaning service is well done. Price performance is excellent. There are minimum facilities, like ATM, Subway, Japanese & Thai restaurant, but not inconvenient at all. But it is not luxury like other famous hotel.
Hotel Feature Tip : There are 2 rooms & 1 living room, it likes better than suit room of other 5 stars hotel. And daily cleaning service is well done.

serviced apartment included - in room safe, , washing machine, ironing board, fully appointed kitchen, bathroom, dining room, double bedroom.
Hotel included - concierge,24 hr security, gymnasium and restuarants.
no currency exchange for travellers cheques in the hotel.
Slightly off main road, difficult for taxis to reach.
The Ascott Beijing is one of the best hotels we have stayed in.
The serviced apartment was spacious, clean and fully equipped with all manner of appliances. It was as good as being at home, except someone came in to clean every day.
The staff were courteous, polite and could not do enough, although some staff had better English than others. (My Chinese girlfriend was able to translate fortunately)
The breakfast was self service, held in one of the on-site restuarants and tasty, with fresh produce used daily.
The Hotel is located near Guomao subway station, and it was easy to access the City from there. Taxis were abundant in the morning, but more difficult to hail in the evening. We ended up walking to the main road to get taxis (500yds)
The Hotel had the facility to exchange currency, but not Travellers Cheques. We had to go to the nearest Bank of China - (1000yds) with our passport to get local currency.
We plan to stay in this Hotel again, the next time in Beijing.
Shopping Tip : For bargains visit Silk Street - 2 subway stops away and negotiate.
For quality visit China Trade Centre - 5 mins walk.

Make sure to have the front desk write down the address in Chinese on a business card and carry it with you when you go out. The business cards they have now have a map, but the address is not written in Chinese characters so the taxi drivers can not always read it.
Shopping Tip : There is a Wal-mart in the basement of the department store down the busy street that runs behind the hotel (the street that the Motorola building is on). You have to go around to the back of the department store building to find the entrance.

very large, bright and well equipped rooms, ideal for longer stays
The hotel is located in a newly built-up area with a subway connection in close proximity. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are very generous. The only downside is the not so nice breakfast buffet presented with only one variety of sausages and cheese. Also, the presentation and selection of bread does not meet the other standards for such hotels.
