Good location, close to the action
the location was great, price was reasonable

Our room was ready when we arrived. The carpets need a good clean, but other than that the room and bathroom were great.
The front desk was helpful and one lady in particular spoke very good english.
There is a money machine to exchange money right in the lobby, which was very helpful. (It did include a 20 RMB service fee)
It was difficult to get a taxi to come into the hotel from the street for pick ups.

Reasonably priced
Walking Distance to Wanfujing
8
The hotel was reasonably priced and walking distance to the tourist spots - it was just 5 minutes walk to the Dao Hua Men Night Market/Wanfujing Street.
Hotel only had internet at the lobby. No internet in the rooms.
Hotel was right in between the Wanfujing and Xianamen East Subway stations - thus, it's a relatively long walk to the station if you want to go outside the area. (10 minutes brisk walk)
It was easy to get a cab - just ask the bellboy to get one for you and you will just have to pay the driver an additional 5 yuan. Do not be fooled by taxi drivers waiting by the street that jack up their prices. It takes less than 100 yuan from the Wanfujing area to the Airport for example - always go for the taxi drivers with meters.
Same is true at the airport - just go outside and line up for a cab and make sure the turn on the meter. They will issue receipts. Do not entertain people who go up to you saying it will take 700 yuan to bring you to your hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Bring a small umbrella that you can tuck in your back during the summer for the occasional rains and for the hot sun. Also, it would take you about 2 hours to walk through the forbidden city (assuming no rest stops.) Be prepared to walk under the sun (or rain) :)

good location but small rooms!
the location is great as you can walk to the nearby park and further on to the forbidden city/tiananman square and to the nearby wangfujing street
5.7
we enjoyed our stay as the hotel was good enough to accommodate a really early check in at 930am! the staff are also friendly and helpful. though the cleaning staff needs to be friendlier and more discreet. they tend to just throw in the used towels and sheets on the floor along the corridors.
the location is good as it is nearby. the staff are nice enough to hail taxis for us, especially for short distances.
Travel tip:
try out the food market at night along dongamen street! :) but be prepared to do a lot of walking!!! most taxis (the company ones) are reluctant to take passengers to nearby sights like the tiananman square, wangfujing or forbidden city, as the meter will only be about 10-15rmb.

Definitely Value for Money
Great location, tidy, clean, comfortable, welcoming
8.3
Definitely a great location, backing onto the Forbidden City, close to night food markets, pedestrian street shopping, metro station within walking distance. Staff were good, with adequate English, and rooms were very good quality.
English tv is limited, but that's not a major. Wi-Fi only in lobby, but, again, not a major. All in all, we rate this hotel highly, and would recommend it unreservedly for what it represents: a great location at good value.

Hotel chosen for location,we were not disappointed
Staff and housekeeping helpful ,bus stops and train station very convenient, English language China Daily paper.

As an elderly couple 80 and 76 respectively we found it a very restful place to stay. We were in an annexe separate from the main building where there was a lift foyer on each of the three floors that had a table and 2 upholstered chairs where one could sit, read or write and gaze out over the main entrrance.
Restaurant Tip:
Always check your bill.

Our flight was delayed due to weather conditions in Beijing which meant we had lost 1 nights accommodation. When we arrived in the hotel next morning, to our surprise the room had been given out to someone even though it was still under our booking the next day. The front of house staff advised they would have this room ready for us in 40 mins. We waited for over an hour in the lobby and the staff were busy chatting, laughing away until we re-approached them and they had forgotten us and advised "Oh, yes is ready".
When we checked into the room, the bell boy insisted on carting our bags into the room and stood there for a tip. Once we got rid of him, we detected the room had smoke, when we advised staff to change, they informed us that they were fully booked and there was no choice. We had to stick it out.
As we lost a day we extended our stay one night to ensure we dont get booted out. We were given the option to pay at check out. Later that night we came back and tried to access the room via a key card and we couldn't. We were tired, exhausted and not functioning well, after a good couple minutes of trying we went to the lobby which was far from the room, we were told they had left an envelope under the door of our room advising us that we would need to pay upfront. We didn't understand the logic of locking us out and later discovering this letter upon opening the door once we got that sorted out.
Anyways, all up, we had a great time in Beijing explored the great wall, wa fu xing shopping, jade factory, silk factory and the enormous majestic structures in the capital.
Security was tight and we were utilising the subway system so the security guards made us pop our bags through the scanner and as a result, this got slightly damaged.
The city is fairly old so there weren't any escalators and lifts in the subway station which made it hard to connect with luggage to airports and so forth.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
do not get on the riksaws outside the hotel, they are scammers, we were advised by fellow travellers that they work together to employ an elaborate scam and corner you into giving them lumpsum cash by transporting you into alleys and threatening you in stranded corners. be aware!

Great Location but small room
Strategic location at the center of Beijing
7.3
I traveled with my family (wife + infant). The location is next to Forbidden City which you walk anytime to the Forbidden City. It is also close to a Famous Wangfujing Street (street with full of shops and various food including muslim restaurant). Walking distance (5min) to Tiannanman Square and Oriental Mall; which are also the location for 2 closest subway stations. The room condition is not bad except a bit smelly because of the moist condition (i guest there was a leak from the shower room to the room carpet). No lift from the 1st floor. Passing the aisle to the room will also give a moisture smell (i guest another water leakages). However, the services were good, and the shower was great. My wife can shower my daughter easily with the equipped shower hose available at the shower room. For a budget hotel, this is really not bad.
Restaurant Tip:
For Muslim, you can just walk to Wangfujing Street and look for Dong Lai Shun Muslim Restaurant. They have a famous soup which taste so delicious.
