The "Bell Boys" -- they try so hard to be helpful, even more than helpful. Their efforts are really touching. For some reasons that we were not able to decipher: inquiries at the Reception Desk take long to handle -- this means slow check-ins, long wait for responses that require calling a supervisor, checking something in the computer, etc. The map that we were given can be updated.The map of the subway network is missing a line (Line 4, which has a stop near the hotel). The map of the City is confusing and hard to scale. The best would be to provide an accurate and detailed map of the immediate neighborhood which is a very nice part of Beijing.
Travel tip : The bookstore near the Xidan subway station -- the English language section in the basement has a nice collection of Chinese literature and history, Penguin Classics.

Location, cleanness, service. Really excellent value for the money! The location of the hotel is excellent with two subway stations near by (100 meters away). Reception desk and the rest of personnel were very friendly and very helpful. Food at the hotel was good. There is a noodle restaurant near the hotel too (going south). A supermarket is around 300 meters from the hotel (south). The room was very clean and comfortable. Most tourist sites are reachable through the subway system. Tian'Anmen and forbidden City are near by (10 to 15 minutes walk).
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Using the subway is very easy and cheap. It will take you to most tourist areas even to the Summer Palace.

Great position ..Handy to Metro .. Walking distance to Tian'Anmen square NO ICE Machine..Each time you require ice you have to call room service .. We found the Hotel staff very helpfull & friendly.
Travel Section extreamly good booking train tickets Ect. for a small minamal fee...Tickets delivered to hotel same night.
Foyer area LARGE & relaxing with A piano player with great talent.
Drinks ( as in all hotels ) expensive
Restaurant Tip : We found a small resurant appx 100mtrs left of the hotel..excellent food & cold beer at good prices
Also across the road opp a popular dumpling resturant that make their own..Top resturant at great prices, Hotel food nice but too expensive
