Good price, even though the location gave us a shock because it's in out of the way area, not on a main stree, but, it was located within a 5 minute walk to the subway which connected to all the city's tourist spots. And, you don't have to consider taking the "hu tong" tour.
The hotel's location is in a typical "hu tong" neigborhood which means it's located in a small one way street, off one of the main streets. Our taxi had a difficult time finding it, he had to call the hotel several times for instructions.
The Staff spoke enough english to help us. Once we got over the shock of the location, we have to say that we liked it, the locals seem busy with their lives and no one bothered us. It was an interestng and educational. We felt comfortable walking back and forth to the subway, which was only about 5 minutes away. Our room could have used some paint, there was a stained area on the wall next to the bed. The room was small with no views except roof tops in need of repair. The breakfast buffet did not have a good selection (Bread, Eggs, ham, bananas, watermelon, coffee not too good, tea& somekind of orange drink). We had to cook our own eggs on a pan on an electric burner used by all guests, the line to use this pan depended on the amount of guests eating breakfast at the same time. For the price, we would probably consider staying again.

The staff at this hotel is friendly & very helpful. The location is really great in the city overall and a short walk, maybe 400 meters, from a station on the main ring subway line (Line 2 I think but I don't have a map with me.
Slow & inconsistent internet connections. Not the place to stay if you're going to be online a lot.
A little too warm.
I was traveling for both business and pleasure and the Hutong Inn Hotel Zaoyuanju suited my needs mostly. It's about a 20 minute walk from HouHai, a nightclub/party zone and there are local and foreign restaurants everywhere along the way, also shops for food or other necessities are convenient.
A refrigerator in the room would be nice and there aren't many views out the windows but I would stay again.

rooms are not sound proof.
The hotel located in small alley of Hutong area. You can experience the daily life of local people. You can walk to many famous spots like Drum and Bell towers, Shichahai, Prince Gong's Mansion, and even BeiHai, the Forbidden city. Staff is quite nice and speak English well. I feel hot-cold water taps are quite hard to adjust the temperature

A very convenient spot, close to the subway
Surrounded by lots of eateries to try with
Lots of English Channels
Great price, down to earth
Nice and comfy beddings
Very helpful and amiable staffs
a place that's kinda small
I stayed very comfortably at this place.
It's really very neat, characteristic, and clean. Breakfast served on time after a good night sleep. It leaves you an unique impression but not an impression of just another hotel.
The price was very reasonalble, and the hospitality of each and every staff is unmatched. It's difficult to select the best, but Ceccilia and Vivian, those two lovely amiable girls took good care of us as if we were families. That was a BBE: Better than Best-Effort service.
We'll definitely come back for further stay.
All the best.

good location for the subway access, good access to tourist both tourist and local area. Lot of places to eat or drink to fit all budget and in walking distance.
A little hard to find, room is small but clean. Standard rooms no exterior windows
Front desk is helpful and speaks English during regular office hours, after hour attendant do not seap too much English. I need to check out a day earlier than reserved. There was no refund for the
unused night. The girl on the front desk cannot explain it well. the manager said is to do with Agoda. Any adjustment need to deal with Agoda, for one night I do not waste time for the one night. Free Wi-fi in room, only during the evening too many people log in, signal is week.
Neeed to go to the lobby for better reception.
AC unit working fine. Only closing the doors create too much noise sometimes.
Travel tip : The Hutong across the 7 hotel ( chain hotel ) in Gulou area. It is not facing the major street, is in the middle of the hutong.

Interesting location, near Bell Tower and Drum Tower, close to subway station
Hard to find. Room was in interior of hotel with no window except one opening onto hallway.
The hotel was OK. The amenities were not spectacular but good for the price. The biggest problem was finding it. My cab driver could not even locate it and had to stop a couple times to ask for directions. The cab ride from the airport to the hotel was relatively expensive as a result. But aside from that, the location was pretty good, with lots of interesting restaurants in the area and a subway station right down the street for easy access to the rest of the city.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The Bell Tower and Drum Tower are right nearby, and outside them you will find rickshaws that will take you around the hutongs. Be careful when bargaining with them, though, because the price at the start of the trip may not be what they ask you for at the end of the trip.

Fifteen minute walk to hotel
Late night convenience stores
Walk down quiet and dark "hutong" street at night but felt safe
Not a trendy area, twenty minutes by cab from Wangfujing (touristy)
Overall, great stay. Clean and comfortable. At least ten english cable channels including HBO. Helpful staff at front desk. Convenient location close to the Guloudajie subway station. Only fifteen minutes away. Didn't have time to explore the area as much. Would stay here again.

The hotel is well situated, near some of the sightseeing spots, and allowing easy traveling due to its location near to a subway station. Personnel has an understanding of English and is helpful in providing info or assistance. It is also located in a colourful Hutong area, which is so specific of the old style Beijing, giving visitors a view of life in the original capital city. Also nearby is the lake area which provides possibility of entertainment and eating. Location is a plus when visiting Beijing.
The rooms are small and there is very little room to move - there is also no view to the outside as the windows are on the upper part of the wall. In the lower level of standard room, you do not have a window to the outside but to an inside corridor. The doors always have to be slammed to be shut, which is noisy if you want to sleep in just that little bit more.
Not necessarily sure you are allocated a double deluxe which was ordered and paid for, as you cannot compare with other rooms although marked 2 types of standard and one deluxe. All in all no complaint.
The breakfast, as indeed explained in their brochure, is indeed express breakfast service - this could be more attentive.
The Beijing Zaoyuanju Hotel - Hutong Inn is a friendly accommodation, which is centrally located near the Bell and Drum Towers, in the midst of the Hutang area. This is a Beijing living area, where you can still see the original way of living of the Chinese in their capital. These areas are becoming more and more rare as the modern living style is being imposed in the Beijing capital. It is centrally located with easy access, via the nearby subway to other sightseeing spots of the capital. In short comfortable and good location. When reserving this Inn you do not expect luxury but a friendly down to earth and clean accommodation where you can get a good night's sleep after a day of long walking and sightseeing of the many worthy spots in Beijing. In summary a good spot for the night.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Hutong experience, Bell and Drum Tower and the vicinity of the lakes for an evening stroll and restaurant or entertainment option.

Pleasant staff, front desk personnel speak passable English and are helpful.
Located within walking distance of Gulong Dajie subway station.
Good beddings, triple-sharing available.
Room air-conditioner is cold.
Smelly room with moldy air-conditioning.
No shower stall; hot water erratic.
Meager, unimaginative breakfast.
Switches on bedside console do not work.
The hotel is well-situated near the Gulong Dajie subway making travel around the city convenient. It is fairly clean but the rooms are small and have an unpleasant musty odor exacerbated by the moldy air spewed out by the air-conditioning. The bed linens are not changed daily and the towels, though clean, are old.
Since there is no shower stall the bathroom is drenched when one showers making it slippery for the next person.
Breakfast is meager and unimaginative and remains the same everyday. The milk is watery and orange juice tasteless. Fortunately, there is unlimited hot tea.
Hotel Feature Tip : The hotel is situated near the Gulong Dajie subway making travel around the city easy.

hotel without bath necesity : shampoo, soap or shower gel. For the high price of this hotel (for Beijing) we expected to find this kind of basics stuff. The stuff was on sale at the reception...
The bathroom was a mess. Without any curtain for the shower so the bathroom become a lake after a shower. We needed to expect 30 min to get hot water. We were two in the room and had only one access card, so it was not possible to go out and in by different ways. "Occidental" breakfast was poor, not elaborated and we had no choice, orange juice was not real but some podwer dissolved in water.
We not recommended to choose this hotel. I think that for this price in Beijing (not Paris or other expensive town) it is a trap for tourist who reserve by internet. The hotel is not centrical, it is localized in a small street (called "hutong") so the taxi driver most of the time does not find it at the first time. The service is normal. For that price of this hotel, the shower gel, shampoo and soap should be available for free. Real juice fruit will be appreciated on the morning. More occidental stuff like cake or bread would be appreciated too.
The air-conditioning in the room is localized directly above the head of one of the bed. So it is perfect to caugh a cold during the night!!
