At times when prices at hotels around the city centre Wangfujing area keep soaring, this place which is within 15 minutes by taxi to Wangfujing is a reasonable alternative and a traveller pays much less.

The relative dim lighting at the reception lobby does not help in projecting the image of the hotel which looks old and fading.

I have stayed in this hotel as early as the 1990s and then moved over to stay in various Wangfujing hotels for a long time before coming back this time, rocognising management has changed hands a couple of times since. There seems however little change in the room although I was told renovations were done. The staff at the hotel including those at the reception and concierge are very "stiff". They are not unfriendly or unhelpful but somehow they are not forthcoming or too enthusiastic in taking any initiative unless they are "confronted". Or should I say they are "shy"? This kind of orientation compares much less favourably than the standards of service in most Southeast Asian countries.

Restaurant Tip : I was quite disappointed visiting the Teppanyaki restaurant - this was apparently understaffed and although I marvelled at the skill of the chef, the quality of the beef was very poor. I really wished the Japanese management could introduce some quality control to ensure at least the beef lives up to the reputation of teppanyaki! I am sure customers who can afford this restaurant would not mind paying slightly more to have beef rather than rubber in their mouths. You may instead go to the Tao Yuan on the 2nd floor for Chinese food instead!

Good buffet breakfast. Once we got over the communication barrier the staff were very helpful. Free internet access.

air conditioning didn't work - it got very hot in our room. Maybe more staff that speak a bit more english would help.

The Jinglun Hotel was walking distance to the underground which made for easy transport and not too far from The forbidden City. The air conditioning didn't work - it got very hot in our room. It got very hot and when we complained we were told to open a window. The staff were very helpful with other aspects of our stay. The cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful as well. The buffet breakfast was very good. The business center was very efficient and free internet access in the room was beneficial.

Travel tip : using the underground to get around was very useful

excellent location, good service, friendly staff, different types of restaurants on location, early check-in available.

the rooms at the back of the hotel on the lower levels do not have a good view.

I have stayed previous years in the Jianlun hotel and the reason being is that the location is excellent, very close to many busineses that I have to visit, also close to the tourist places such as the silk market, tianamen square and extremely close to the metro/subway stations. The staff are extremely helpful and the service that they offer is excellent. Allows you to have an early check-in, the rooms are spacious, very clean and with the comodities that you need. The restaurants in the hotel especially the japanese is very good with high quality products and a good service. Staff speak many languages and I consider the hotel to be an exceptional value for money for a stay in Beijing.

Shopping Tip : The silk market is located within a 5 minute walk from the hotel and it is great fun to bargin there.

great location in SE central Beijing right on subway lines. Also great for budget business travelers as location is right in the business district. Lots of staff and security keeping it safe. Reasonable price for the location. Plenty of local and western food around. Silk market very close. Room was decent - nice soft beds, decent cable selection (for China). In-room safe box.

Room may be too basic for some; huge gap in the bottom of the door let hall noise in, carpet near bathroom had bad water stains and sometimes a bad smell near the door. Its a budget travelers place and priced good so lots of families with kids running the noisy halls.

The public spaces of the hotel were good. Staff was friendly. Consierge was very helpful.

Restaurant Tip : turn right walking out the door, head towards the silk market 1 block. At the first intersection (McDonalds on your left) turn right. Lots of local and western style restaurants. First lane has some nice Chinese restaurants with English menus. Or, keep walking a litte further. Local place with outdoor - outdoor seating, BBQ and Sichuan province spicy hot pot with a cold beer is great! The staff speak good English and will entice you to try a cold beer. Highly recommended! Or, keep walking into the dark and pick a western style restaurant.

Bus Stop right outside hotel. Taxi stand right outside the hotel. 2min walk to train station Yongli. 5min walk to Silk Markets.

No area downstairs to sit around and smoke and drink coffee only a bar.

Our room consisted of two king single beds non smoking room facing the street. Spacious and clean. Staff polite.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Please start your day early in the morning, because when midday comes around it is really hot

Best location in Beijing, nice rooms.

Breakfast and food - extremely expensive.

Basically the best location in Beijing, loads of things to do around the hotel and its bang in the middle of Beijing. Very satisfied with the hotel except for the breakfast which was ridiculously expensive!

Near train station, major shopping malls, eateries nearby, and the famous Silk Market. The hotel is clean and staff was helpful.

The traffic is bad as it is located in the main rd. It is old.

This is one of the pioneer hotel in the central part of Beijing. It is near every major mall, office, CBD and train station. So this is the perfect hotel to explore Beijing. This price is also very reasonable. The hotel is clean but small, typical of a japanese run hotel. The internet is also free and fast, so this is a good business hotel. For people who likes a good bargain, pop by silk market only 5 mins walk and you can find all kind of goods, sometimes it is better to visit the shops in the underpass aheading toward the silk market.

Overall, a pleasant stay at Jinglun Hotel Guest Rating: 7.3

Within walking distance to Yonganli and Guomao subway stations. Efficiently and friendly staff.

Expensive breakfast

We arrived late on the first day for our 5-night stay and they didn't have enough rooms for us. We had originally booked 2 twin rooms for our group of 3 adults and 2 kids, and they had only one such room. Their alternative for us was a double room on a different level. The staff took note of our request to be on the same level, and arranged a change of room for us to be next to each other on the second day.

Shopping Tip : A good alternative to the nearby Silk Street is the Hongqiao Pearl Market, prices seem to be more reasonable there.

Secure hotel

Area not too interesting

The Jinlung Hotel is a good choice if you are doing anything at the World Trade Center (exhibition, etc.) since it is within walking distance. Plenty of things around the hotel for food and the like but not much in terms of sightseeing. Access is not great but a taxi will get you just about anywhere you need to go.
