Good service, clean and good location.
We had a particular problem. It was -8C outside one night when we staying at the hotel. The hot iar was not working so we called room service. They came to the room and tested the room temperature and agreed that the hot air was not working...it was just blowing cold air, so they just left and said nothing. In otherwords you have a very cold room and sorry about that. They didn't change our room where to a warmer room or do anything about it? Unbelieveable! That is so unbelievable that if something doesn't work right they just dump you. So normal service is ok, as long as something unusual doesn't happen. Also, the hotel restaurant is very overpriced.
I would surely stay at Kapok again. The price is quite reasonable and so is the location. We had a room heat problem that they did not address correctly, but hopefully that won't happen again! As far as AGODA, they are a great company to deal with, efficient and have the best prices. I have checked many hotel agents as most people do and am so glad I had found Agoda. If a company such as Agoda does such a good job then people should say it so other people will know it also! Ken from Canada.
Shopping Tip : Lots of good shopping around the corner on Wangfujing. The locations is great!

Great location near the Forbidden City, well maintained rooms and a helpful staff
Rooms were a little tight, internet service was very slow
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Kapok in Beijing for four nights. The location is great -- near the Forbidden City and the Night Market. The hotel staff was helpful, and seemed willing to please. The rooms were small but well maintained.
Breakfast, which was included in the room rate, was fine. In addition to Asian breakfast food, there was an omelet station as well as cereal that was more familiar to guests from the Western Hemisphere.
The hotel is very small (only 85 rooms) so it's not the place to stay if you're looking for a lot of activity at your hotel. Otherwise, it's a good place to stay.

Amazing location just steps from Forbidden City AND just steps from Dragonfly Spa...2 hour massage for $30 US. The hotel staff was very helpful. The buffet breakfast was very convienient. We really enjoyed our stay.
We really enjoyed our stay in Beijing. The hotel is centrally located and very clean and efficient. It is also close to great walking streets and the Night Market. I would definitely advise getting a little card with map from the hotel to take with you to show to cabs. Taxis in Beijing definitely don't speak English and having the directions was very helpful.
Travel tip : Dragonfly Spa. This spa is great and only about 1 block from the hotel towards the Forbidden City. I could have spent all day there. Definitely lots less expensive than the States!

Hotel - Clean & efficient, friendly staff, value for money considering the good location
Ideal location - between Forbidden City & the famous shopping Wangfujing Street. All within 15mins walk. Cost only RMB 110 from Airport to this hotel, 40mins journey, but that was in the early part of morning with minimal traffic.
No seats at Lobby area. Rigid check-out time at 12pm, in fact my room key was deactivated at 11.30am!
Food - Subway & local restaurant, convenience shop directly across the street
Taxi - Easily available, friendly conceige always glad to help
The hotel & its facilities looks new, overall good experience staying at this hotel, would recommended it to anyone who want to be easily accessible to both sightseeing places (like Forbidden City, Tiananmen) and shopping area (Wangfujing). I was not adventurous enough to try the street food near the hotel though. An other mall worth visiting is probably Silk Street market, which you can go by taxi, however, the sales people there can be quite aggressive. Enjoy.

Location is great.
Vlaue for money.
I stayed in this hotel early of this month for 3 nights. We got ourselves 4 units of rooms that comes with a small garden. The location of this hotel is superb as it is walking distance to the Forbidden City and Tianamen Square. It is also walking distance to Wang Fu Jing Road and many restaurants. The room is clean and the bed is hard but I love hard beds. The bathroom is kinda cute as it transparent. All in all this is a nice, clean, quiet hotel with great location and and it is value of money!

Small hotel, large room, great location near between Forbidden Palace and Wangfujing Street.
Room service breakfast was inedible.
We arrived tired and sore at the hotel at about 6:00am after a 12 hour 'hard sleeper' train ride. Needless to say we were a little early for normal check-in. Our room was not ready, but the helpful English speaking desk staff offered to upgrade us to a 'Fashion' suite at an extra cost but with no half day early check in penalty. We loved this spacious room with two walls of windows looking out to the street - especially beautiful and soothing when the snow started to fall. The odd exterior cladding of the building made sense from inside the room where it seemed to block inlookers and street noise. We made good use of the extras such as an automatic coffee grinding/making machine, large tub, computer with internet and MP3 player for our IPod. That first morning we ordered American Breakfast to the room but the scrambled eggs were cold, the bacon absent and the presentation off putting. The staff on the phone seemed to understand what we wanted but the room waiter was clueless and more concerned with getting us to sign the bill, write our name on the bill and put the room number on the bill, coming back numberous times to correct ommisions but not being able to find hotter eggs or bacon. We took all our meals from then on in the numerous restaurants and hawker stands in the area, but the people eating in the hotel restaurant seemed content whenever we walked by.
Travel tip : We spent a day touring the Great Wall at Mutianyu and the Panjiayuan Market with our hired guide

DRAGONFLY SPA, just down the road
had a fab time at this hotel. were upgraded to the fashion suite the first night, loved it so much we had to pay the extra to continue staying there. the bath was so big you could almost do laps. computer in room and sat tv, a bonus. a very well designed room, recommend this hotel. the location to old beijing was the best thing about it. easy walking distance to some great attractions.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : waling distance to so many interesting attraction, and the best thing, dragonfly spa, just down the road.

Location, Room facilities, Cleanliness, Staff
Internet services, No complimentary tea, coffea
Kapok hotel though being of a four star catagory surpassed our expectations. Though rooms were small they had some facilities which even five star hotels lack. Rooms were clean and room service was excellent. Surprisingly tea and coffea was not complimentary and even if you were happy to pay the rather hidh asking prices there was no milk/creamer available, so better take your own. The staff at the reception were very helpful and had a good knowledge about local attractions and shops. One of the doormen was particularly helpful. Local and IDD calls are reasonable but we were surprized to be faced with a bill for an IDD call of 2 hours durarion which we we never took. It was finally settled but was an unpleasent episode of an otherwise pleasent stay. Beware of their automated phone system, there is obviously some glitch somewhere. Free internet is available if you take your laptop but internet access at the business center can be expensive (2 Yuan per minute) as it take ages to log on. The biggest plus point is the location as it is walking distance to the Forbidden city and the exciting night street market with its exotic food and the exclusive shops of Wangfujing street. Cannot comment on hotel restaurants as we did not have any meals, lots ofplaces to eat nearby.
Shopping Tip : If tou are after some bargain shopping do not miss going to the Silk Street Market and Yaxiu Market, both a short taxi ride away from the hotel.

Good location
Nice room design
Friendly, English speaking staff
Rich breakfast buffet
Our room did not have a window with a view, we were looking at the shell of the building
Upon arrival there was a bit of a mix up and we didn't get our room. We had to spend the first night in a different hotel, arranged by Kapok. They organised transfer, payed for the taxi to go to dinner and offered the breakfast in the morning for the trouble.
Rest of stay was good. Staff helped arrange tickets for acrobatic show, english speaking driver for great wall excursion, etc.
Travel tip : The Dragonfly Retreat, on the same street as the hotel, only 2 minutes away, offers great massages in a very soothing atmosphere.

Courteous attentive staff, offering excellent service.Quiet room.Hotel well maintained and spick and span. Very well located.
Just the slightest lack of English understanding which will improve as time goes bye. We were in no way hampered by this.
My wife and I could not been more impressed with the overall experience that we had when staying at the Kapok Hotel. In fact I emailed the manager to that effect, and told him that we intended returning before too long. Hopefully that will be next year, and with other members of our party.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Dawn Flag raising ceremony Tienamin Square.Be there by 6.15 AM. The walk back through the gardens to the hotel after the ceremony. The Forbidden City. A personal guide is recommended.

We stayed at this hotel for the second time a few weeks ago, and for the most part were very happy with the hotel's features and service. The location is great - very close to wangfujing, forbidden city, tiananmen square, etc. - and getting to subway or hopping on a taxi is easy too. The hotel breakfast buffet is quite appealing, but at 70 rmb per person is a bit expensive. Overall highly recommend this hotel, which is a great value for the price.

The hotel is well located for both sigt-seeing and shopping. The rooms are modern and clean.
The restaurant provided both Chinese and Western breakfasts. The reception staff were courteous and helpful.
If you are modest beware!! The shower, toilet and washstand area are behind a glass wall as you enter the room. We did finally realize there was a curtain to pull across but only after initially
abluting in public!
curtain to pull acrosser
The hotel was about 5 minutes in a taxi from Tianamen Square which was appreciated as we wished to attend the dawn flag raising ceremony -
very moving as on the day we attended there were approx 15,000 patriotic Chinese from all aroung China in attendance. Forbidden City was about a 10 to 15 minute walk away. Many shopping centres and restaurants within easy reach.

The location is fantastic, very close to the Forbidden City and Wang Fu Jing shopping mall.
The basin in the bathroom is not as clean.
Overall we are quite happy with our stay at Kapok. The room is ultra modern with free broadband. The location is very good, close to the Forbidden City and Wang Fu Jing shopping strip. But it's not exactly close to any of the subway stations, about 15 min walk.
However, we have found few spots around the room and bathroom have not been thoroughly cleaned, ie. water marks etc.
We will consider to stay at this hotel again.

Stylishly designed rooms that are comfortable
Though it is close to the city centre it is 15 mins walk from the nearest subway, but cabs are cheap so its not big problem.
The hotel is located within 5 to 10 mins walk to the forbidden city and there are convenience stores opposite. The rooms are really beautiful. I love the bathroom. Though they are glass bathrooms, there are curtains so privacy is not compromised. Showers could have been stronger.

next to wanfujing, nice decor
this was a steal. but the staff decided to give us a room with no windows except a huge skylight where people from above can look right into our room. so we have to keep the mechanical blind drawn all the time and live under artificial lighting. the aircon is erratic - works only occasionally. nice all glass bathroom but if only the drainage works better : shower will result in the shower area flooding. water in beijing is hard and the soap hardly lathers. five star location right next to wanfujing and a stone's throw away from the forbidden palance. but 10 min brisk walk to the metro though. staff don't bother to greet us though cause we're chinese. oh well.
Restaurant Tip : home style restaurant right behind the wangfujing street hawkers offers amazingly delish food in huge portions. u can never go wrong in this place. service is prompt and they don't even charge service charge. just leave a 10 pc tip cause they deserve it. can give the hawkers a miss cause food is horrid. scorpions, starfish and mealy bugs on a stick? no thanks! the fancy 5* restaurant (bj standards) opposite have worse waitresses and mediocre food. another place is quanjude : fab peking duck but be prepared to line up for an hour for a table.
