Located within an easy walking distance to some of the city's most popular tourist attractions, this hotel is a great lodging choice for tourists to Beijing. Staying at the North Garden Hotel will keep guests close to a metro station, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, a park, malls and many shops and restaurants on Wang Fujing Street. All of the 216 elegant and pleasantly decorated rooms here have broadband Internet access and coffeemakers, along with many value-added extras like bathrobes, complimentary bottled waters, and mini bars. The rooms also feature “blackout curtains” to ensure a good night’s sleep. Some of the hotel’s other facilities include a bar, café, a restaurant with excellent Chinese and Western dishes, along with a small gym to work out and work off the sweats.

Fabulous position,favourable first impression, excellent Asian restaurant, well equipped room.
Extremely limited English spoken by staff, hidden charges, low ceilings in corridors.
I chose this hotel for its position, and BECAUSE it was a Chinese hotel rather than an international chain. However, a few problems, such as a broken key card(stuck in our door) and being locked out inexplicably were difficult to deal with with our negative Chinese knowledge. There was no indication you had to pay for coffee,which was irritating even though it was inexpensive. Our meal in the Asian restaurant was superb, and our room had every amenity you could expect.
Shopping Tip : Other than its proximity to Forbidden City etc, there was the very convenient nearby Oriental Plaza, which not only had a food court, but also an excellent supermarket, where we stocked up on bottled water, fruit, nibbles etc.
