Location Location Location - as well as the Executive Dining and "Club" facilities

Hotel badly in need of a renovation.

Somewhat disappointed with our 3 night stay in an Executive King Size Room. Our room itself was badly in need of a complete renovation - ceiling paint was flaking, bathroom tiles were cracked and skirting boards missing substantial chunks. We booked this room and this hotel primarily for the advertised "guaranteed view of the Forbidden City" Sadly for us the ubiquitous Beijing "Fog!!" (can we tell the truth and say "smog") prevented our view until early Monday morning. The big sign in the bathroom advised against drinking the local water (wise move) but then charged around US$4 for a bottle of drinking water. A little tough! Overall, we would continue looking for another hotel if we returned to Beijing

Hotel Feature Tip : Buy your own water and don't bother with the condoms openly for sale in the bathroom.

Best features are the excellent location of the Hotel, at the Heart of Beijing. Hotel staff is very kind and helpful, service is good and the hotel is clean.

The rooms are quite small (for Europeans), and some places could be renovated. The toilet was not working very well all the time.

Best features are the excellent location of the Hotel, at the Heart of Beijing, and good service. The big Wanfujing shopping street is just next to the hotel, full of local, and international shops, malls and restaurants. The service in the hotel is good, and the rooms (executive floor) are nice. We were also pleasantly surprised by the hotel's own restaurant in the 2nd floor. It was really a chinese restaurant with excellent food and decent prizes.

Convenient location - in the vicinity of Wangfujing Walking Street

The water kettle in the room was stinkingly dirty. Apparently no one used it for a long time and the room maids never check it. The rooms in general need some updating and refurnishing.

The staff are friendly, but do not have much local information. They don't even know the most famous Peking Duck restaurant DaDong(I got the name from a friend). This hotel provides just the very basics for visitors - sleeping overnight. Their other clients are mainly tour group people, perhaps from other provinces of China. I would rather stay a bit further away at Park Plaza (where I stayed a year ago) which is clearner with more helful staff and it is only 15 minutes more away from the walking street.

Restaurant Tip : DaDong is a very very good restaurant with foods presented beautifully and also very tasty. Address:No. 22 Dongsishitiao, Dongcheng District, Tel: 01051690328

Location

Nothing i can think of

The wangfujing grand hotel in beijing is located near the popular wangfujing shopping street. The location is perfect, because it is not so busy on that side on the street. It has a relaxed atmosphere. The staff is very nice, friendly and helpful. It is not far from the forbidden city and tiannamen square, all in walking distance. You can also take the subway and it is only a few stops away from silk street pearl market. When you exit the subway, you just follow the signs to silk street and enter right into the market.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : SUBWAY IS CHEAP AND FAST AND EASY TO RIDE

Good location and clean rooms. Good English speaking staff. Prompt service on request. Convenient Foreign Currencies Exchange point with good rate.

Internet access rate too high.

We have stayed 3+2 nights in the hotel. In between we have left some luggages in the hotel before going to Xi'an by train. We are satisfy with the stay during our trip to Beijing.

Nightlife Tip : There are two local food stall sites where we can taste most of the local food in Beijing and shopping around WangFuJing area and have a look some of the hutongs in the area.

Very convenience location, the are so many shopping area is just walking distance.

The restaurant should offer better food option for international travelers.

Value for money for such a prime location hotel, convenience, nice shopping experience and many attractions found just a walking distance away. Save a lot of pocket money by using the public transport. The restaurant should offer better or more food options for international travelers. We will definitely recommend to friends and relatives for their next visit to Beijing.

Great location

Rooms need renovation

I stayed in an executive suite with the view of the Forbidden City. It was great. The service was excellent. I speak a little Mandarin so I can't tell if the staff would be as helpful if a guest cannot speak Mandarin. However, the location is excellent. It's right on Wangfujing so shopping is minutes away. Tiananmen Square is only about ten minutes walk. The nearest subway station is also a short ten minute walk as well. The breakfast buffet has a selection of Western and Chinese food. It's sufficient and o.k. The flat screen T.V. in my room doubles as a computer with internet access. That was great. The only down side with this hotel is that the rooms need a touch up. I stayed in the executive suite, and the carpet there is worn, and there are cracks in the wall. A new coat of paint is needed. If the executive suite is in this condition, I could only imagine what the rest of the hotel rooms are like. Otherwise, it's a great hotel. Room service was great. My room was always kept clean.

Location, location, location. WangFuJing, Forbidden city, Tiananmen and shopping is only a few of the nearby attractions. Good service (time efficient) which is often hard to get in China. The knowledge in English is also very good. The rooms are modern and clean, possibility to have the forbidden city as a view. Excellent breakfast!

All in all, a very good hotel. The restaurant's attempt to western food is not very good. In fact, it is really bad. Do not use the hotel's lunch nor dinner alternative.

Our stay at WangFuJing Grand Hotel could not have been better. We are extremely satisfied with the efficiency of the hotel staff and our room’s high standard. In addition, they are very capable in case of an emergency. Unfortunately we had an accident during our stay but thanks to the hotel staff it turned out well since they knew exactly what to do. Within minutes a doctor had arrived and we were off to a nearby international hospital, only 5 minutes from the hotel. The location of the hotel is optimal, close to Tian’an’men, the Forbidden City, shopping and restaurants.

Clean and convinient

Nothing

The hotel is centrally located which offers a lot on convenience to us during our stay in Beijing. The rooms are clean and big and the staff are polite. Anyhow we would rate the hotel as 4 star instead of 5 star hotel. It looks much nicer in the pictures then real though the hotel is averagely ok. We hoped we had the time to spend in the swimming pool but unfortunately we were too busy touring around and did not spend enough time enjoying the facilities of this hotel.

Lobby and room and service very good

Do not speak English well and I had problems because I had paid upfront but it took them a day or so to find this fact.

My stay here was good. They were very hospitable and kind. They did not speak a lot of English but you could find them when you needed to. Watch the taxi drivers when you go back to the airport. Do not take one without a meeter as they will try to over charge you. Make them give you a meetered taxi. My stay was pleasant.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Very close to Tienamen square and the Forbidden City.

Location is great. Situated in a main shopping ares and a night market.

Not all hotel staff members speak english.

We enjoyed our stayed at this hotel. Reasonable price. The room is clear and comfortable with a daily complimentary minerial water. Location is great. Not only situated in a main shopping area and a night market. But also located in some of the historical sites like tianamen square and forbidden city. Except some hotel staff members dont understand english but they are all helpful.

Great location, nice to have a pool

Our upgraded room had opaque glass between the shower and the bedroom, which causes trouble when one person wants to get up early and not wake others; they must get dressed and use the bathroom in the dark, as turning on the light in the bathroom would also illuminate the bedroom.

Great location, pool staff is friendly & helpful and pool is large, but dark grout color gives it a dirty look. The room was fine,(except perhaps for the opaque glass window separating bathroom and bedroom, see my "cons") clean if a bit ragged. We went for the upgrade to the room with a view of the Forbidden City, because they told us they would give us breakfast for my Husband, myself and our child included, and given the price of breakfast that made it all but an even exchange for a better room. My husband missed ordering eggs, only to notice on the last day that others had ordered them, and we'd simply not known it was an option. Conclusion:If you want breakfast in the hotel, then it's worth it to upgrade.

Shopping Tip : For quick gifts, several stores on Wangfujing have signs saying "10 yuan" for fans, beautifully boxed chopsticks and other items, which is as low a price as you would get with heavy bargaining at Silk Market or Vantone. Occasionally you can even bargain here.

nothing

bathroom very old, and very small, the room carpet need to change, very old.

The receiption staff are not very friendly. When I wanted to check in, none of them served me until i asked them. However, the staff were not busy at that point in time. Also, the hotel is quite old, and when i asked them, they told me the last renovation done 10 yrs ago. There were also no restaurants nearby that were available for people to have dinner. There were only small diners which looked old and unhygienic available.

Great hotel

view...

Although nice hotel, at the time of my booking I would have paid a few dollars extra and stayed at the Beijing Hotel (in fact, maybe the Beijing Hotel was a bid cheaper)... nonetheless, I am satisfied with the deal I got... I did not eat at the hotel even thought I had to enter a rating here below:
