Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

YWCA Garden Hotel Beijing Info
Not at all to be confused with the YWCA that probably comes to mind if you are a Westerner, this hotel is a hidden gem.The building is an amazing 200 years old and while staying there, with the ancient courtyard, beautiful traditional furniture and tapestries, you almost feel as if you have traveled back in a time-machine to view China as it once was. Also this is technically a hostel, which means it offers one of the best bargains to be had as far as saving money. This doesn't mean you have to sacrifice comfort or pleasant surroundings at all. The swimming pool is quite popular and fun and the rooms are well equipped to allow guest the chance to cook meals in their rooms, hostel style. All of this makes the hotel the ideal place for a couple looking for a romantic get-away on a budget.

The age and originality of the features and architecture. My room was clean and as I had requested had a double bed and bath in the ensuite.
The staff were extremely helpfull and spoke excellent english.
As this was my first time in Beijing and as a woman travelling alone, I really appretiated the time and effort staff spent in giving me directions and making me feel welcome.
I felt very safe in the local area, which was extremely central and easy to travel via subway to the important sites.
Though there is no restaurant directly in the hotel (they do serve breakfast), I was very impressed by the quality of the local restaurant they directed me to, only a stones throw away.
On my next trip to Beijing I would definately stay in the YWCA Garden Hotel
Shopping Tip : The location of the hotel is excellent for shopping, the large department stores, hutongs and silk markets are within walking distance.

The English speaking employees were very helpful in getting organised while in Beijing. Forbidden city is only 10 minutes walking distance away from this place. Taxi drivers should be instructed how to get there. In preparation of the journey it is advisable to write down the name of the hotel and address in Chinese characters and also try to get the telephone number of the hotel for guidance. Once in the hotel you are safe for travel troughout the city.

If you want to experience Hutong style accommodation, this is the place to go. The recetipn was friendly and warm.
The breakfast is served in a nearby hotel. That is OK. However, the quality is bad. Also, the light in the bathroom is too dim.
There is a bit of history in this little hutong hotel which is posted at the entrance. It certainly is very interesting to know of its past. It's much more interesting than staying at those usual standard hotels. The room is very clean and comfortable. Best of all it has free internet connection and it's located in the main shopping street of Wangfujing.
Shopping Tip : Shopping area is just a few steps away and there are both luxury brands and cheaper ones as well.
