Constructed in 1998 this 33 story property has provided upscale rooms for travelers who prefer quality and its central location.

Next to the Liberation Monument Square (Jiefangbei), and connected to the Metropolitan Plaza Shopping Mall and Office Tower Complex, this hotel is just ten minutes drive from the Yangtze and Jianlingjiang Rivers. The hotel lies only 34 km away from Chongqing Airport, and is near the downtown area. Rooms have the standard amenities including hair dryer, air conditioning, TV, and Internet access. Recreation and leisure facilities include sauna, tennis courts, an indoor pool, a fitness center and remarkable restaurants. The Hoi Yat Heen serves Cantonese cuisine, while Portico’s Café offers European, Asian, and America cuisines except on Sunday when it serves a delightful brunch.

central location, English speaking and professional hotel staff, friendly and helpful concierge, nice bathroom.

We booked a room at the Harbour Plaza Hotel to store our luggage prior to our cruise on the Yangtze River. Check-in took nearly half an hour as the hotel claimed to have not received confirmation from Agoda of our reservation. No matter. The hotel manager was nice and after some help from Agoda, the confirmation fax was located and had been sent the day previous. The concierge was very helpful, and we found a road within 5 minutes walk that offered local bites from street vendors. There is also a McDonald's for the less adventurous and an Italian restaurant within the hotel. All attractions are very close. The Stilwell Museum is a 20 minute drive, Great Hall of the People is 10 minutes, and the ferry terminal is 10 minutes as well. Watch out for the taxi drivers. We spent 10 minutes negotiating the trip from the airport to a reasonable level. Count on 50-70 RMB.
