good hotel, lousy executive floor

we booked for 3 nights executive room, but they said they have no more room. they "upgraded" our room to deluxe business, but deluxe business room is cheaper in price. Our room is at the far end of building 1, and the club floor is on building 2. It is difficult to access the club floor. the club floor closed early. only one computer and they are not sure if it is working. you have to pay to use the computer at business center. you do not eat breakfast at club floor, if you want to, it's ok, then you will have fewer choices. no newspaper or magazine at club floor. In fact, there is no one inside the club lounge considering executive floor is full-house. no free newspaper if booked through agoda. no express check-in and check-out. they remove the reception on the club floor.
if you can get their deluxe business room w/o breakfast at around 700 rmb, which sometimes they do offer, then that would be a steal.
don't get me wrong, my complain is for the executive floor only, other than that, it is a great hotel. the staff are helpful, nice swimming pool, adequate selection for breakfast, great wi-fi, free shuttle service to east train station. 6 nice pillows to choose from, in fact, you can request all!

i stayed in the deluxe business room expected the most comfortable room than 3 & 4 stars hotel i stayed the previous days. however the aircon was not functioning well. 2 technicians came in mentioned that they did something to the central system but still after 20 mins the room was only slightly cooling. i discovered that only a ventilator hole (above our bed) out of 4 was functioning. luckily that night rained heavily and so the room was not so warm.
i discover that in guangzhou most of the hotels attach with chinese restaurant, same as dong fang. worth to try restaurant。this hotel has airport express bus no.5 to airport. it is about by taxi to airport but the express bus is only cny17.
through the 7 nights stay in guangzhou at 3, 4 & 5 stars hotel, experiences tell that maintenance of the hotel rooms are very important for customers to come back to stay again.

I did not have high expectation when I booked the hotel; from the photos on the website, I thought that the lobby and room would be cold, dim and old-fashion. I booked it as it is near to our meeting place, and have the convenience of a nearby stop for direct coach service from Hong Kong Airport, and f course the price is reasonable. However, we were uetterly surprised by the nice and upscale deco of the lobby; the spacious, tastfully decorated and luxurious room comparable to a international 5 star hotel. It is definately value for money.
Another plus point is that they have a very good chinese restauarnt house within the hotel.

the china staff are not very friendly, the taxi service was not good, and get a cab anywhere near the lobby, have to walk all the way out into the main road, and they don't provide train ticket sale counter.

The suite was so big and comfortable. We were very impressed with the pool area and the hotel foyer, the porters were very helpful, some of the taxi drivers are ok but some may refuse to take u, just be strong with them and them no! they will take u and just get in cab! or report them otherwise everyone very good!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
just walk out of hotel and go right u have macdonalds and the train station
